: KOD - J. Cole
Best Track: BRACKETS
Worst Track: Photograph
So here's the first review on this account and to keep things simple why not review Cole's latest project. It's 2018 and oh, how much Cole has changed since. Looking back at some of Cole's older music I could easily spot the transparency when comparing it to his newer music. For those unaware Boblo Boat by Royce Da 5'9 a single featuring Cole was realeased and was basically Cole announcing an album this year other than his tweet, and I suggest you go give it a listen. Ever since the song's release I've been anticipating this ever since. Luckily I was filled with content by this project and it kept me hooked throughout. Nice mellow music and some really vintage Cole in tracks like 1985. I also was glad to see that there was only one song that I actually didn't enjoy. I really felt the same vibe as 4YEO in this but maybe because both have the same length in time being roughly 40 minutes. They also both were conceptual with the theme of addiction being present here and KOD being an abbreviation of multiple things. My only complaint really is even with all the great tracks like ATM, BRACKETS, Kevin's Heart, and Once An Addict there was nothing that amazed me beyond belief, which left me not coming back as much as I wanted. However overall this is a very solid Cole album and above average, probably his third best project in my opinion.
