5.5 months ago I had major surgery to remove 4kgs of tumours from my torso - see the scar in my pic!
3.5 months ago I entered the 2018 CrossFit Open (with zero expectations) I finished 6th worldwide! Miracle of miracles.
2 months ago I followed up by competing in the 2018 CrossFit Online Qualifiers, uncertain and grateful to just move and do what I love, I finished 2nd worldwide. Yet another ridiculously unexpected miracle.
6 weeks ago I began seriously training in earnest for my 6th CrossFit Games. It has been intense.
In 5 weeks I will be on a plane to the USA to compete in 45-49 age category...
In 3 weeks the bulk of the hard work will be all but done...
As I lay in extreme pain, fear, vulnerability and uncertainty before and after my surgery I was sure my CrossFit life was over, potentially forever, certainly for (at least) the next 6 months.
But time is a remarkable thing! It flies, it heals, it is filled with deep potential and extraordinary possibilities. I couldn’t see what was possible back when the storm of surgery and pain swarmed me. Now I can hardly keep up with the speed of my own progress!
We don’t always have to know what’s ahead of our current obstacle or suffering, but we do have to hold onto hope, keep turning up and keep working for our miracles.
