Tell us in the comments! When you were starting your current business, how did you manage to find and close your first client?
Here on Proposeful it was back in 2016 and we had spent a few months on closed beta we a few users, improving our business proposal software to their needs. When we were confident we had something the market needed, we made a list of hundreds of companies that worked on segments we aspired to sell to - like digital agencies, coworking spaces, consultants, etc. - got their phone numbers from Google Maps and started calling.
We called literally hundreds of companies we knew very little about and told them about our business proposal software. That helped us understand what common objections were and what most excited them. It was a painful lot of work, but absolutely vital to the success we found after. Eventually, a few days in, we called the company that would become our first paying customer. And they're still with us, almost 2 years later 💜
Obviously it made more sense for us later to generate and quality leads, as we do today through content marketing and paid advertising. But still, getting our hands dirty was a very fun and absolutely necessary experience.
Now tell us your story!
