Combo from class yesterday! The overarching analogy/approach for this combo was “dancing with your favorite cousins at a cookout” 😂 and honestly it showed through the movement beautifully!! Thank you to everyone one that came out and became a cookout cousin & to all the future cookout cousins... I’ll be teaching at least once a month moving forward 🤸🏾♀️

The 52-year-old singer appearred on the July/August edition of Essence— dubbed "The Happiness issue" — and told the magazine about her own journey to finding her joy through the years. She shared that her deepest sadness began in her 30s. "The struggle was intense. I could analyze the source of my depression forever," she explained. "Low self-esteem might be rooted in childhood feelings of inferiority. It could relate to failing to meet impossibly high standards. And of course there are always the societal issues of racism and sexism. Put it all together and depression is a tenacious and scary condition." Her 40s were no less difficult. "Happiness was elusive. A reunion with old friends might make me happy," she said. "A call from a colleague might make me happy. But because sometimes I saw my failed relationships as my fault, I easily fell into despair." But things have been looking up for the new mom. Now, Jackson says 17-month-old son Eissa Al Mana has been a source of true joy.

I’m so happy to see that she added “Skin Game” onto her setlist. It’s important that the children learn about their history 👏🏾. Also, Mutha’s face is beat ! #janetjackson #sotw2
