Time to say “Até mais!” and “Obrigadas” to Porto. 🇵🇹 Our recommendations:
1. Do try the traditional dish of Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá (oven baked codfish served with olive oil, onions, black olives, cornbread and a hard boiled egg), at a Portuguese restaurant
2. Do opt for the Hop on Hop Off/ City Sightseeing/Yellow bus + 6 bridge Douro river boat cruise + wine tasting combo package (especially if you only have a couple of days in the city)
3. Do walk across the top of Ponte D. Luis I (D.Luis I bridge). The views are stunning
4. Do check out the Gaia side of Porto, that’s where all the Porto wine cellars are + amazing views and a more chill residential vibe.
I guess ill call it #jamerican

We were lucky enough to celebrate the São João Festival here in Porto last night, (SWIPE 👈🏾 to see our recap) and it was so much fun! This festival takes place annually on the night of June 23rd. For some, it is the celebration of St. John, the patron saint, and for others, it is a celebration of the summer solstice. It’s typical to eat grilled sardines for dinner and to hit people on the head with plastic hammers (this was @misstej
’s favorite part). There was also a firework show at midnight and concerts and DJs set up around the city. Some of our survival tips that made our first night out in Porto memorable :
1. We made dinner reservations in advance, so we could enjoy a good Portuguese meal to hold us over for the night. Many restaurants closed on Friday night through to Sunday - so we had to call a few places before we were able to be accommodated.
2. We bought our plastic hammers around 10pm when the price had already dropped by a €, and we were able to hit people on their heads on our way to dinner and throughout the night
3. We wore comfortable shoes to navigate the winding, steep streets and hours of walking and dancing.
4. And last but not least, we booked an @airbnb
apartment that was in the center of the city, right by São Bento train station, making going out and returning home by foot a breeze. .

Thank You Lord for always being the supplier of my needs and more. When I was broke and didn’t know how to pay rent, You provided a roof over my head and food for me to eat; everyday. You kept Your promise. When I was feeling hopeless, depressed and alone, You placed amazing people in my life to love on me, listen to me and not judge me and help me to get out of that very dark time of my life. When I was living without getting paid; each month You made a way for me to pay rent, bills and other essentials. How could I not glorify You and be joyful. Therefore I boast in everything because You God are faithful and true. You said in Your word that if you feed the birds in the sky, You will also provide for me. Therefore I thank You Lord for loving me and providing for me. I promise each day to love, forgive and repent. I’m blessed. For those of you reading this, I know life can feel like the worst thing ever, but I assure you that when you have personal relationship with God and read His word, your life changes for the better. Our struggles help us to see Who He is and overcoming them results in our testimony to encourage others. Don’t be ashamed of your past; we all have one. Go out there and be the best version of yourself. Love and serve others. Do these things joyfully. Seek God and you will find Him. Have a beautiful and blessed day! Love and blessings to each of you. #joyful #JAmerican #prayingforyou #prayingfortheworld #praywithoutceasing #prayingformyBoazdaily #blessedandhighlyfavored #thankful #butGod

We made it to Porto (Lisboa 🚊 Porto) just in time for the São João Festival. This is the biggest festival of the year annually celebrated on the 23rd of June in this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a look at our Instastories to follow our discovery of Porto.
Traveled north to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site : Porto for the weekend. Check out @twoglobal
to follow mine and Teju’s sister trip through 🇵🇹!
Cheers to the weekend!
Must trys in Lisbon for us:
1. Grilled Sea Beam/ Dourada with potatoes 😋 We loved a casual place along the waterfront (Rua dos Bacalhoeiros) called O’ Cofre
2. Vihno Verde (green wine) - this was a first for us and it’s a crisp, refreshing drink, perfect for an afternoon break
3. Grilled Sardines. These little fish have tons of bones that can be annoying to navigate but they are flavorful and a great appetizer.
Food is one of our favorite ways to get to know a culture, and Lisbon has not disappointed! 🇵🇹 🥘 💕
We ❤️ all of the mosaics around this city. They are all unique, with each telling a different story of Lisbon’s architectural history. Even though this particular building is old and rundown, the beauty of the mosaic still shines through.
Travel is my inspiration. 🇵🇹
