For those of you who are looking to lose weight...WEIGHT TRAINING WILL HELP YOU. That is s scientific fact. Let me help you understand why.
Weight training will increase your heart rate very rapidly. The key to burning fat is keeping your heart rate elevated for a long duration. Weight lifting will shoot your heart rate up real quick and as long as you aren’t taking too long of rest periods your heart rate will maintain an elevated state. Rest periods of no more than 1 minute are where you want to be if your goal is to lose weight. I would recommend 20-45 seconds rest in between sets. That will keep your body working and in rhythm. The benefits to weight training for weight loss purposes are abundant.
1. If you lose a significant amount of weight you will not get saggy skin. The muscle tissue will fill in where the fat tissue used to be and prevent lose skin.
2. Building muscle will also boost your metabolism. Faster metabolism means you are burning more calories just existing.
3. Notice that most cardio machines are leg oriented. Stairmaster, treadmill, elliptical, etc. that are generally only working your legs. Weight training will be working more muscles in your upper body. Your muscles need fuel in order to contract. You will be burning more fuel which you are burning more calories.
4. Not only are you losing weight, but you are building muscle too. And who doesn’t want a little extra muscle?
5. Adding muscle to your body means your metabolism will increase in speed as I stated earlier. Having a faster metabolism means in the future it will be easier to keep the weight off. A lot of people lose weight and then put it back on because they lose their weight solely via doing cardio. Cardio is great don’t get me wrong. I do cardio almost every day. But if your sole source of losing weight is cardio, that is a very temporary source of losing weight. Once the cardio stops, the weight comes back. Building muscle is a more long term solution to fat loss, because it will be easier to keep the shape you have achieved.
THINK LONG TERM AND INCLUDE SOME WEIGHT TRAINING IN YOUR WORKOUTS!
Any time you can open your eyes and see this, that's a victory within itself. Big news coming soon. Stay Tuned!

💫 training by @underarmourfr
, done 💫 👊💥👊

Gotta have faith.🎶
So I talk a lot about the support I have gotten over this last year with my weightloss journey!
About the support from my different challenge groups and the people doing it along side me too.
While all of that has played a HUGE factor in helping me FINALLY achieve results, I wouldn't have gotten this far if I didn't finally believe in ME too.
Eventually you have to stop believing the lies you keep telling yourself:
You know the "it's too late", "Im not motivated enough", "I don't have enough time", "I'll do it later".
The more you repeat these phrases the easier it is to believe them.
I mean hello, 👋🏼 it took me 20 years to finally get over my damn self and stop repeating the same excuses over and over and believe that I CAN.
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
I have faith in you!
I promise to invest my time in you too.
But you gotta have faith in YOU.
You have to want to learn and grow.
You have to invest your time too!
Believe in yourself too!
YOU. ARE. WORTH. IT!

We are all humans and guess what, sometimes we all need a little help. Reach out to someone you never know how much in need a person is. Its a great feeling to help another person. #helpful
You have reached a place to believe in impossible things and reach to infinity and beyond.
In the past, my goal-setting has always been the same: get super jazzed for a new “something special” to work towards, make a stellar plan to put things into motion, stick with the aforementioned plan for a good 3 or 4 days, start making excuses, fall of the wagon, eat lots of fried food and cheese, but a new day planner, and then begin again at the next start of a new week/month/year.
This blog is a place for me to hold myself accountable to daily action towards a much (much, MUCH!) bigger goal and the unexpected places I’ll go, people I’ll meet, and experiences I’ll have along the way.
Powered by an excess of Chai Tea Lattes and La Croix, a daily chocolate habit, two rambunctious dogs, a plethora of personal development books, an unwaveringly supportive family, and a love of all things Disney, I invite you to follow along in my journey to go from couch to completing the Walt Disney World Dopey Challenge along whatever other adventures present themselves along the way
One of the reasons #IWill
leave a legacy ❤️
I rarely hit the gym over the week end, but this morning I did, for I felt I needed moving after a very purposeful albeit sedentary Saturday, attending a great personal training congress that kept me seated for hours at end 🤓
Do you find it difficult too to take a day off ?
🤨I tend to forget that resting is a key piece of any training program and there are very good reasons for it. ✅Rest allows your muscles to recover from the training you are doing; your muscles need time to repair/build after a good workout, in particular if you are doing strength training.
✅Rest days help prevent injuries, especially the ones of overuse, that can occur when you are doing repetitive motions like running, walking, cycling, or using the elliptical etc.
✅Overtraining and not planning days off can make you restless and difficult to get a good night’s sleep, which is one of the leading cause of burn out.
✅Becoming overtired can also affect your immune system which can put you at risk for illness.
👍🏻The general rule of thumb is to take two rest days per week. Some people may need more, some people may need less. The important thing is to remind yourself that recovery is as important as training and that if you are weak, tired can’t perform well, either physically or mentally ❤️
