- The 20th edition of the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival (SIAF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture, saw a large turnout of visitors this year.
The SIAF, which will conclude on Jan.23, showcased creations of Islamic art by 42 artists that were displayed at several venues in Sharjah, including Sharjah Art Museum, Maraya Art Centre, Calligraphy Square, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Majaz Amphitheatre, and Sharjah Calligraphy Museum.
Visitors enjoyed stunning artworks that were made from several materials including glass, acrylic, plastic, leather, fabric, light, metal, and printed paper, all applying the “Impact” concept which was the theme of SIAF this year.
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, General Coordinator of SIAF, said, “We are reaching different communities this year by inviting the foreign media to attend and cover the event. So far we are very happy with the south Asian community’s presence and are hoping to reach more nationalities for next year’s edition.”
