Correct me if I’m wrong, but surely I’m not the only person who has had a pretty failed attempt at growing their first wee vege garden 🌿 “You can’t kill spinach”... well I think I somehow may have 🤦🏼♀️ Growing some of my own organic/spray free veges is one concept I have tried to take on board this year, to help reduce cost, to increase my intake of greens & to know exactly where my food is coming from.

I have to admit I've been a bit naughty lately, snacking on chocolate and other not so healthy choices. I always regret it afterwards when I feel icky and bloated. So I'm making better choices today and having this vanilla plant based protein smoothie which is full of all kinds of healthy ingredients including mushroom powder, spirulina, pomegranate powder, pumpkin powder and so many more. Much better for an afternoon treat than a sugary filled chocolate bar.
Today is one of those ‘I can’t be bothered to cook kind of days.’
We’ve been out all morning which meant coffee for breakfast and a quick sushi roll for lunch. Baby’s finally asleep and the last thing I want to do is cook for myself however my body is asking for something more.
I usually always have a bowl of cooked quinoa in the fridge and it saves my life most days. A bed of quinoa, grated carrot and beetroot topped with spinach, cucumber, falafels, a big dollop of hummus and an egg topped with Dukkah for extra protein. Drizzled with lots of olive oil, apple cider vinegar and some lime as the dressing. All local produce from our farmers markets. Put together in 5 minutes super simple and delicious 🌱
What motivates me to train and keep fit? This! Both of my parents passed away prematurely, before I had kids 😥 and when they were alive they weren’t really the picture of good health. Not that this made me love or adore them any less, they were the best parents anyone could hope for, they just didn’t know any better. I guess this is the driving force behind my motivation, I never want to put my kids through the pain of caring for and loosing a parent to a preventable illness. So this drives me, every day, to be the healthiest, fittest, strongest version of me I can be, I can do anything my kids want me to and in turn hopefully I inspire them to do the same ❤️

You already know I love my oats.. filling bc of the fiber and flavorful bc of the endless combinations.. well this is the same ballpark, and I’m definitely a fan👌🏽💯 highly recommend if you haven’t yet tried! ☺️
Recovery from diet culture isn’t pretty, fun, or easy, mostly because it goes against 90% of what you see everywhere. 🙄 It’s like OUR CULTURE has become DIET CULTURE. Of course it has, because if everyone stopped dieting and trying to “fix” themselves than alllll kinds of companies would go out of business. 🤫🤔🤗

Grow Daily: “Substitution is key”. So here is my take on this new ‘healthy’ snack. I was changing cookies for crackers, I love desserts and with my new lifestyle I’m always, slowly, trying to substitute. So crackers( saltines) are my second best choice. Then I found the very popular Sea Weed chips. At the beginning I thought I would never be able to eat them. Now after a few tries I actually have grown fond of them. Crunchy, tasty and healthier. 3 saltines are 120 calories which is not bad, but against 30 calories... we have a winner. The sodium also is a big factor , saltines 170 mg and sea weed only 25... I could go on but just take my word, worth the switch. Now let’s see how I can get Mateo to try them ! What is your favorite healthy snack ?
