Serving up a fresh batch of some Apple, Cinnamon, Ginger Muffins for my RESTART peeps this evening! This is one of the many delicious recipes straight out of @therestartprogram
These muffins were the MVP for me when I first started my journey because I had NO IDEA what a real food diet actually looked like. Simply making a switch to healthier ingredients in items I was already eating was 🔑 for me. Helped diminish cravings, taught me how to cook, and left me feeling completely satisfied.
A few simple changes that I made (in this particular recipe) were the following:
1️⃣Using a high quality fat like coconut oil vs vegetable oil or pam spray 😱. 2️⃣Apples vs sugar.
3️⃣Aluminum free baking powder.
4️⃣Adding anti inflammatory properties like ginger
Amongst many more.
To heal you don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to pick up a few new tricks along the way.

Some people prefer to use the term, “pain is weakness leaving the body.” Though I think it’s a great term, it doesn’t quite illustrate my feelings towards the workout I did yesterday.
I told friends that I was “beating ‘bitch’ out of my own self.” For whatever sick and demented reason, that motivated me to keep pushing through a very grueling kettlebell and sprint workout. I am at WAR with my weakness, and I’m going to win this war.

posted... So let's give it a go today.
This isn't a "you're doing it wrong" tip, this is more of a Get Some Bang For Your Buck. -
The bent row. Bars, dumbbells, kettlebells... no matter what you're using, you're doing the movement as a primarily back exercise. However, it's where you start the movement that matters the most. And it's that starting point that I see a lot of people sort of... glaze over. Which in the end, short changes the effectiveness of the whole movement.
So what can you do to fix it and get the most effective results? Use your back to start that lift. To do so: movement begins by initiating your posterior deltoid (aka rear delt), and surrounding muscles (infraspinatus, middle and lower trapezius) in an up and rotational (inward) motion - then lifting the weight. As an added, really squeeze those muscles at the top of the movement.
Sounds weird? Try just the up and rotation a few times before executing your row. You can see in the video, the varying degree of row (high to mid) I'm doing just that first step. Swipe 👉🏻 to see images. .

Mobility practice before I start my new protocol in a couple of weeks.
my legs are as cooked as these eggs 😨 // first workout since thursday and boyyyy could I tell. first, we did roughly a million heavy squats for the strength portion. then, we did a lengthy conditioning workout including weighted step-ups, burpees, rowing, and the air bike. my little sausage legs are SMOKED. will 109% be sliding down the stairs on my butt tomorrow because these stems will be out of order. dinner tonight was quick and simple: three-egg marbled omelette filled with arugula, homemade pesto, and black pepper. on the side, three strips of bacon and some unsweetened applesauce with cinnamon that’s out of view!
Good front squat session in the Land of PR’s. I’ve tried to create my ideal lifting atmosphere and I can’t think of any place I’d rather get after it. Everyone PR’s here...there is something in the air #frontsquat #heavylifting #hardertokill

Jon finished the day 7/9, setting new personal records on bench and deadlift. My third deadlift call was too aggressive but I know he’s got more in the tank! He came in third place in his class
Aaron finished 9/9- a big milestone, especially since this is only his second time competing. He put 70lbs on his total since his competition in February, taking first place in his division
Mike also had a big day. He finished 8/9, barely missing his third squat. He blew my projected numbers out of the water so I consistently had to call attempts on the fly. He put 90lbs on his total since competing on August and joined the 500 club for deadlifts
As a team, we went 7/9 on squats, 9/9 on bench, and 8/9 on deadlifts for an 88% overall completion rate and 67% success on thirds

The Old me thought never leaving your kids (except for work) was a good momma
The new me knows that working out and eating healthy is teaching my kids that hard work is needed when you want something and now they work hard for their dreams too
The old me looked at fit ladies and DREAMED of looking like them
The new me smashed the alarm clock, woke up and stopped dreaming about it #hardertokill #blessed
