Today I went to one of my usual local goodlife gym. We were having a fun time deadlifting with the hex bar, the gym pretty quiet when a PT walks past and tells us (not particularly friendly either) to put our shoes on. I have always trained in socks for deadlifts/squats and legpress. I get better numbers & its better for your form. Ive been with goodlife for a year and have trained in just my socks infront of trainers multiple times. Not once have I ever been told to put shoes on. Im annoyed. I've been debating about changing gyms seeing as theres only one reasonably close with a lifting platform (no mirror tho) and the others i have to make do and dismantle a squat rack to deadlift. Ive trained for probably 4 years lifting with just socks and Im not about to stop now. #stopsockshame#weightlifting#gym#training#grrrlarmy#grrrl#deadlift#goodlife#iron#goodlifepayneham#chicksthatlift#chickswholift#squat#legpress#heavylifting#mumsthatlift#mummotivation#fitmum#fitfam

Got it done ✅ On Wednesday I combined the last two days of the @penandpaperstrengthapp Meat Wagon program - squats and sumo. Worked up to three singles at 255. A little PR and a nice way to finish. Also, I don’t know wtf I did with my arms on setup - interpretive sumo, maybe?
Alright Instagram peeps..... Is this cheating or not cheating hahaha .

Clearly a big physical change in the past two years, but what I'm really proud of is the mental change. I've done a lot of self work; reduced migraines, brought myself out of a depression, got my diet right, started a new job, started powerlifting competitively, and started enjoying life . I feel like a new, better version of myself. It hasn't all been easy though. At one point I was working 3 jobs, training 3 hours a day in the gym and just grinding. But hey! The important thing is I'm here, I'm doing it! Feeling good and loving life right now! 🤙🏼
Every image we consume. TV. Posters. Instagram. Even the brands you buy from every day.... Are directly and subliminally reinforcing one body type. And that there is something wrong with you and something less valuable about you if you don't conform to that shape.
There's nothing wrong with that body type.
But we just aren't all designed to look the same. There isn't just one body type. There are about 3.5bn body types.
And we should glorify that. And celebrate our beautiful, glorious diversity.
Nothing exciting happened today in training... it was one of those days where I really had no desire to do any of it, but did it anyway. Here’s an ugly heavy set of 5 front squats at 225# which happens to be a PR and some 3x3 at 80%. Did a bunch of other accessories after, which took entirely too long, as I had to repeatedly talk myself into finishing, but I did.
