The Good. The Bad. The Ugly. ❤️😱 . I get asked all the time if it’s “easy” for me to be so damn consistent when it comes to my fitness, nutrition, personal growth, business...life. To keep it real, I wanted to share that I’ve straight up had people “unfollow” or “unfriend” me because they said I was too peppy and happy all the time 😳🤷‍♀️ Um, first of all, why is that a problem? 🤣 . Andddd ✌🏼there’s nothing EASY about doing HARD things. 🤔 Working out early is hard. Choosing healthy food over crap food is hard. Putting God first can be hard. Playing mom and dad is hard. Taking time for marriage is hard. Leading a team is hard. 🤹‍♀️😵 . Nothing worth having comes easy though. 🙅‍♀️ It all takes HARD WORK and commitment every single day! Butttt there IS an extreme satisfaction that is found in overcoming things that once held you back. From calling BS on your multitude of excuses. To creating healthy habits and busting through barriers that prevented you from living your BEST life. 🙌🏼🌟 . Am I happy ALL the time? Heck no. I struggle with life just like everyone else. My hubby works away 1/2 the time. My kiddos can be pains in the butt. 👭🤣 My business has its growing pains. I struggle as much as the next person does...butttt I refuse to give up. I show up for my life everyday NO MATTER FRIGGIN WHAT, because what’s really the alternative?! 🧐I believe that HAPPINESS is a CHOICE and that you can either have excuses or have results, BUT you can’t have both. . This is a big one guys and it prevents so many from achieving the dreams they deserve. Self doubt affects EVERYONE at some point in their life. Celebrities, entrepreneurs, your biggest role model all have faced self doubt at some point. “Can I achieve this”? “Will I achieve this”? “Im not sure I have what it takes”? “What will everyone think of me”? These are thoughts that may make their run through your head. What makes winners different, like Margot Robbie is how they mentally deal with these thoughts of self-doubt. I worked on Sunday so I could spend Monday wedged between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge on a rooftop, surrounded by pitchers of rosé and bikinis and men. That the sky would break open on my way in for the night and that I would wind up sharing a basket of fried green tomato rings with a stranger and orchestrating a reunion with his almost-girlfriend after a round of g&ts and an impromptu coaching session was NOT part of the plan. But, as always, I wouldn’t have changed a second. • Timing is a wild thing, you know. It can be engaged passively and therein useless. Or it can be treated like an opportunity, an opening, intended for you and only you. I was supposed to sit down next to that man tonight. I’m sure of it. • He was supposed to accidentally tell me everything and together we were meant to get his almost-girlfriend back, back and sitting next to him at that restaurant bar after 5 months of radio silence. • Grand gestures aside, revealing everything really is a normal response. I reassured him of this. Rarely does someone meet a breakup coach and not reveal every ache and misfortune, every question and doubt, that’s jammed inside of them right now. • He, like so many others, apologized to me early into our makeshift session—as if he was hijacking my night or destroying my appetite—but 20 or 30 minutes in, I knew he knew that helping him open up was a treasured experience. At the end of the night, all three of us (me, him, and his almost-maybe-perhaps-definitely-now-girlfriend) said thank you. Today was a day that for the first time in a long time I realized I FINALLY am sticking with a “growth” mindset! Fuck the term cheat day... . In my opinion, one of, if not, the worst term used in the health and fitness industry. . . What do we most associate with the word cheat? . . Let's brain storm shall we? . . Doing the wrong thing. . . Being dishonest and unfair. . . Deception. . . Blah blah blah, the list goes on. . . Not exactly the most positive word. . . So what does that do for the relationship we have with food by saying I'm having a "cheat" day? . . You're basically saying, today I'm going to eat certain foods I would usually avoid because they are "BAD" or "NAUGHTY". . . You're creating a NEGATIVE relationship with food! . . Food is not at fault. It never is. . . Don't get me wrong, I firmly believe we should mostly eat the wholesome foods that mother earth has given us but that doesn't mean we should categorise foods that are "bad" or "naughty" and feel guilty about eating particular foods. (Mind you, some of mother earths' food has also been given a bad rep in the past. Potato, eggs, to name a couple...*cough* BULLSHIT...) . Have a bit of everything in a moderate fashion. . . Do you know that we are the only creatures on earth that gain weight and stay overweight? Domestic animals like cats and dogs do get fat, but guess who feeds them? . . Yes, bears, penguins, seals etc all are a bit tubby, but they need that extra bit of tubbiness to survive, whether it be the cold harsh weather or they're preparing for famine. . . My apologies for the Sir David Attenborough try hard moment, I'll leave the nature stuff to him, but hopefully you get the point. . . I eat chocolate, I eat doughnuts (I fuckin love doughnuts) I eat hot chips, I eat burgers and I never ever feel guilty about it and I never class it as a cheat meal. And I eat them moderately. If you've put on weight, you're eating too much in general, don't pass the blame on the food, blame yourself for eating like an arsehole. . . . . . . . . . . .

“If It Fits Your Macros“ is also known as flexible dieting. It’s simply the tracking of macronutrients (protein, carbs & fat) instead of purely calories to achieve a certain body composition goal. ▪ 1: Calculate your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). If your goal is to burn fat & lose weight consume between 15% - 20% calories less than your body needs or/and burn calories through exercise. If you’re trying to put on muscle mass, eat between 5% - 10% additional calories. ▪ 2: Calculate your macro ratio. Aim for 10-35% protein, 45-65% carbs and 20-35% fat depending on your goal. E.g. if you want to lose weight a higher protein percentage might be benefical while a higher carb intake might benefit muscle growth. Other factors such as your body type (ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph) also play a role, so trial & error is often the best way to go. It might take you a while to figure out which ratio works best for you! ▪ 3: Track your food intake & try to meet your macro limits. All my clients use MyFitnessPal & so do I. Weigh everything you eat for the first months. Eventually you’ll be able to eyeball your food & it’ll only take you a few minutes to plug everything in. . ▪ Is IIFYM foolproof? Nope. Though the basic idea of flexible dieting may seem simple, it still requires an understanding of nutritional principles because it can definitely be done wrong! Done right, it can help you to stay more consistent. ▪ Micronutrients (vitamins/minerals) are still crucial for health. Unfortunately, many people choose e.g. donuts over oats. They amay both be carbs, but 🍩 will most likely lead to a short spike in energy & a subsequent crash soon after and don’t offer many micronutrients. If you want to achieve long-term health make sure to incorporate a variety of nutrient-dense whole-foods. They should be the norm, not the exception. ▪ Should macros be the same each day?I don't think it's necessary but I do differentiate between training & off days. When I don't train I eat 20% less carbs since I’m expending fewer calories while keeping protein & fats constant. ▪ So keep in mind that IFFYM is a tool to help you achieve your goals & long-term health if used right 🙌
