Been doing speed work as of late doing 405 for 8 sets of 3 honestly has felt the easiest it’s ever been. Now I know someone’s like , “ Why you wearing straps?” Well the reason behind it is I’m not focusing so much on my grip because I know it’s strong already. My big lost of strength from cutting weight was my lower back. I’ve incorporated straps into my working sets and accessory lifts to mainly focus my core and back. This is a different type of transformation.... In 2017 I trained hard and met all my health goals including being well below 30% body fat, meeting the USCGA weight standards, and finally being able to do a pull up. In less than a year I went from my lightest weight to one of my heaviest. During my first year of college, I fell of my normal healthy routine of consistent workouts, meal prep, and macro tracking. All of the amazing habits that my trainer helped me develop were suddenly so distant in my mind that I forgot how to properly create meals for myself and exercise self control. I went from being the top of my high school class athletically and academically to being average (even sometimes below average) in college which created some mental hurdles for me. I never thought a rebound this extreme would ever happen to me. But it did.
This summer I’ve made some major adjustments to get back the lifestyle i want to live with consistent nutrient dense and macro balanced meals and challenging workouts for about a month now.
This difficult transformation has taught me to appreciate even the smallest successes. At 153 lbs, I was only focused on being smaller and fitter. Even though I believe there is nothing wrong with wanting to be better, it distracted me from appreciating my own body in its current state.
My weight is back down to the low 170’s now and I’m just going to take some time today to appreciate my journey with all its successes AND set backs. Im not giving up. I’m not quitting. I’m getting my life back. Expect some more transformation pictures soon, but by then they’ll be the healthy kind. “For God is within her, she will not fall. ❌ shoulder series new workout❌ including a high volume shoulder day - I’ve been incorporating the smith machine into my shoulder days the past couple weeks! Here is one of the exercises i do. Smith machine shoulder press 10 regular and 10 behind the back for 5 sets! It’s most fun when doing it with a friend because they do get hard. I am only doing 10lbs on either sides! Make sure when shoulder pressing behind the back keep it slow and controlled and only go down to the beginning of your hair line on your neck as I’m doing so you don’t hurt yourself and tweek your shoulders. And sit a little farther up! Save this for your next shoulder day 💪🏼 not shown but the rest of my shoulder day concluded • DB static front raises w/ a 5 4 3 2 1, 5 sets • DB lateral raises pyramiding up in weight while decreasing the reps 20 16 12 10 8 • DB Shoulder press using a weight that you can perform 10 reps at but also struggle toward the end of each set so for me I did 30lbs 10 reps 5 sets • cable up right rows 4X15 last cable rear delt flys 4x20!
