This is so beyond accurate. In a world where, quite literally, everyone is trying to sell something whether it be clothes, new home finishes, MLM marketing, themselves as the best at whatever (motherhood, wifehood, smarts, whatever) it sure makes comparison exhausting. The people with the perfectly clean house, or the children who smile perfectly posed in the perfect lighting, or the gardens that are weed-free, or the closet that creates envy, or the perfect whatever makes it awfully easy to feel like you cannot measure up.
Social media makes it so much easier to compare and feel like you just don’t measure up in day-to-day life. I’m trying to remind myself that a messy, real life is what we are supposed to live & not get lost in the perfectly decorated and professional-photograph quality squares of instagram. Because anyone who is honest with themselves knows the best food makes a mess to make, the happiest homes aren’t always perfectly styled, the best kind of kids aren’t always photograph ready, the comfiest clothes aren’t always beautiful and life isn’t lived with a filter. #creatinghappilyeverafter #greeneyedmonster #envy
