The Chautauqua Program at #glenechopark
opened in 1891 offering classes and lectures in liberal and practical arts. The education program ran only for one year, but the buildings were used by the amusement park for years. #chautauqua
This place is pretty cool now. I can only imagine what it was like as an amusement park!
A devastating fire broke out at Adventure Theatre last month. The beautiful building in historic Glen Echo Park sustained serious and costly damages (details in link). Consider supporting their rebuilding efforts with a donation or by seeing “Judy Moody & Stink” which opens this weekend. We adore this building and took these pictures of the facade just a few days after the fire. Most of the damage is inside but, luckily, the performance space was untouched.
