What an amazing night I graduated with my Associate Degree in Esthetic Sciences. Took me two years and a lot of tears and stressful nights and days but here I am. This last quarter was the hardest for me within days of starting my grandma passed away followed by my grandpa. They are my entire heart and are one of the biggest reasons I did this. I haven’t always made the best choices. Getting married young starting a family young. That was definitely not something my family wanted which being a mother now I see why lol. As my grandma always said “I am a firm believer in fate” and fate is what brought me to this point. This was how I was supposed to do things maybe backwards for some but right for me. I want to thank David and my girls for the love and support they have shown me through this process. My friends and my family. @corie_kinz88

Someone told me at the gym the other day "Wow, you're strong for a girl!" While I know the person meant well, I don't want to be considered "strong for a girl", I just want to be strong. 💪🏼Hearing comments at the gym such as "oh that's a girl's weight", "it's easy for you because you're a girl", or my personal favorite "if you lift over 225 you'll lose your curves and look like a man" no longer get to me, but motivate me to keep going and to add those extra 5-10 pounds to a lift to test out my strength. 2nd Ever Next Level Flow Class is in the books! We...
1️⃣ Started with a guided meditation using the @headspace
app after discussing the benefits of meditation. It's amazing how calm and centred we can get in FIVE minutes (#noexcuses
2️⃣Activated and drew awareness into our spines, rib cages, shoulders and arms, and core while listening to a @satoriprimeguy
mix on Mixcloud.
3️⃣Hit what I called a "Bro Flow." The class moved between upper body movements using bands, dumbbells, and gymnastics rings for 40 minutes in fun and flow while tapping into the next movement their body was craving and pushing all movements to a 9 RPE (rate of perceived exertion). Their challenge was to try at least 1 new thing.
4️⃣Down-regulated and shifted our bodies into rest-and-digest mode using 3-part-breathing, Yin yoga poses, and alternate nostril breathing (the weird pic of Ash and me).
It was fun. It was flow. We all felt like bros (and sisters).

Had a working lunch meeting with some of my colleagues and I was responsible for providing the main and side dishes. I made a big turkey, cheese, and avocado wrap with Joseph's lavash and cut it into pinwheel sandwich slices! (📷 1) I also made some broccoli slaw. They both turned out well but I think the star of the show was Rian's cheesecake fluff (📷 2) paired with Cydney's berry salad!
When I got home today I was delighted to find that Jason had made dinner. It was beyond bizarre conceptually. Pan cooked chicken thighs covered in Mexican green salsa and spaghetti sauce. 🤯🤯🤯 He also had 4 fat slabs of jack cheese sitting on the side waiting to be melted on top. Tbh, I did not have high expectations for the flavor of this dish. And once again that man surprised me. It was SOOOO good. It was kind of like a delicious chicken tortilla soup. (📷 3) And we ate it like a soup. I loved it! Jason has the weirdest ideas and like 9/10 times they turn out really well. 🤷
Quick workout with Gabby today, we're winding down in prep for Friday's strength test. I'm excited for our little "mini meet"! I'm also really excited to have one open day tomorrow to get ready for my trip to socal, do some crafty stuff for my SIL's baby shower, and go through all my clothing. I don't work out until 6 pm! This is the first open day I've had since school got out!
Technique is suffering this week. My squats actually felt great but looking back at the videos each set made me realise that maybe my baby bump is starting to throw off my perception of my positioning. I had to really focus and as I said everything felt like it was spot on. Watching videos -it seems my core isn’t keeping up and my butt is starting to pop up too fast. Not ideal. I’ll have to dial the weight back from now. Perfect practice makes perfect and I’m not about to keep reinforcing the wrong technique for the next 8 weeks.
I am still really happy to have made it to 31 weeks and today managed to hit 3 x 1 @ 135kg and drop sets 2 x 12 @ 75kg followed by a bunch of single leg accessories.

Benefits of Sissy Squats:

*Helps develop balance -

🤚🏼 If your gym doesn’t have a sissy squat machine, you can do another variation using the smith machine as in video.
• All you need is 2 heavy dumbbells and Smith Machine!! The dumbbells are going to hold your feet in place to prevent you from falling :)
Also, by not standing fully upright at top of the motion it keeps constant tension on your quads🔥🔥

If I’m being honest I haven’t been feeling the gym for the past two weeks. My body has been exhausted and I’m mentally not in it. I haven’t missed any workouts but I have been leaving the gym feeling sluggish and tired. I’ve been less productive, feeling like a 🐌 moving from exercise to exercise. I’m not really sure how I’m going to get out of this funk but I’m proud of myself for still sticking it out and getting my butt to the gym. On the bright side the girls locker room at my gym is finally redone and I don’t have to walk up a set of stairs 10X to pee in the middle of my workout🙌🏻
