🤤🤤 it was national mac & cheese day today and I was just DYING for some velveeta shells & cheese 😂 yes I know, it’s terrible for me, all that processed cheese- but it’s my ultimate favorite comfort food 🤷🏽‍♀️ ANYWAY I resisted going to the store to buy some, and instead I made some cauliflower gnocchi with pesto quinoa and a bit of reduced fat alfredo sauce with diced tomatoes 😍 topped with a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese because, I mean, I needed my cheese fix 🧀 this was AMAAAAZING and required very little effort 🙃 if any of y’all have a recipe for some healthy mac & cheese- send it my way!

just 2 if the core exercises i did today featuring the bosu ball 🔥 they were KILLER! especially the second exercise. this was my first time doing core exercises with the bosu, and it was definitely an experience 🤣 I kept checking myself out in the video to make sure I was doing them right 🙈 that’s one of the reasons why I like to record some of my exercises, to look back on and see where I could improve next time. whatever helps the progress 😝💪🏼

Today’s workout was a little different than my usual. I needed a break from my normal powerlifting-style training, and realized I hadn’t done a shoulders-only day in quite some time, and I don’t often train just abs either. I came across one of @chanelcollette ‘s YouTube videos (which I love in general) that was a deload shoulder+abs combo day, and after watching it this morning I decided to give it a go! The full workout list is in my story, but here are some of my favorite things from today: . (All the videos are sped up x2) . First two videos are some mobility/warm-up drills Chanel does pre-strength and accessory work. These were some fun combinations. 2x10 banded circuit of OHP, single-arm cross-body upright row and pull-aparts. Then 2x10 push-ups and side plank twists. . The third video is hanging knee raises. These are something I have done before, but never with this much stability and control! This was my third set of 10. 😊 . All in all, today was a fun little break from my usual programming (which would have been an arm day with overhead press + incline bench as my strength focused movements, followed by biceps+triceps). Sometimes you just need to switch it up to keep it interesting, and to listen to your body when it’s telling you to move, but maybe tone down the intensity for a day. 💪🏼😊

did some fun core workouts today with @dazedandfit 💪🏼 I fell off the ball. a lot. it takes some mega core strength to do some of those ball exercises! we did windshield wipers • v-ups • planks • ball sit ups • flutter kicks • russian twists • glute bridges just because 🤷🏽‍♀️😝 finished it all off with 15 minutes on high incline on the treadmill & 15 minutes on the stairmaster 🔥 we were basically dying afterwards. we’re trying to find some exciting partner workouts to do on the days we can both hit the gym together after work- if you know of some good ones- let us know!

This past 8 months has been about “Choosing Courage Over Comfort” -Brene Brown. My growth as a human being and my ability to be more conscious, transparent and aligned has been astronomical. I just had to be mentally ready to PUT IN THE WORK. It was worth It...I am worth it. 🙏🏾 Everyday I live to be the highest that is within me. Once I realized that how I was living/thinking wasn’t working, and that my mindset and energy had to change it took courage to initiate changes. It’s so easy to be complacent. Snippet from my posing routine from the IFBB Optimum Classic Pro last May. _____ •I hadn’t performed in any capacity since my last dance competition in 1996!😂I worked REALLY hard on this routine. Practiced EVERYDAY. Took film, watched & made improvements. _____ •Honestly, performing was what I was looking forward to the most! Lol! Thankfully we ALL got to pose at finals! 🙏🏾BUT I’ll tell you what, I was nervous. This was a bit unorthodox...the night before I was questioning whether I was crazy for trying to attempt this. ALL OF IT! Jumping up to Women’s Physique, and trying posing like this that would be different than the norm. _____ •I made sure to keep up with my meditation practice throughout the weekend (Trancendental Meditation). That helped quell the anxiety & quiet down the noise from my ego. 🧘‍♀️ _____ •When I woke up on game day the light switch turned on. I said screw it. Imma do me. I figured my posing would be able to separate me from the pack...especially since I was on the smaller side for this first show. SO GRATEFUL that @behindthepump could document this moment for me! Thanks fellas! 🙏🏾 _____ •MINDSET IS EVERYTHING! I stepped out into discomfort & grew tremendously from this experience. Most importantly I had a blast! I turned that mutha Out! 🔥 🔥 🔥 and did it on my own terms. I never got a chance to showcase my personality like this when I competed in Figure. WP is dope! It was a bench-focused day yesterday, but that didn’t stop my biceps from making an appearance 🤗 The lighting in this gym sucks, but I’m so happy with how far I’ve come in the last seven months, and how I can now visibly see muscles in my arms/shoulders/back that weren’t as prominent before. I’m hoping to keep my strength and calories up for as long as possible during this cut. I’m not cutting for anything specific, just for me. I want to lean out a bit and up my conditioning to help along things like pull-ups, dips, and handstands 🤸🏻‍♀️ It’s been such a slow process, but I know that’s for the best as it’ll be easier to maintain for the long run. I’ve fallen in love with the gym again and I couldn’t be happier!
