Choosing the best tv ?
Videophiles agree that Plasma screens produce the best blacks and contrast when it comes to TV screens. Ranked on top of the chain over LCD's, the technology never really caught on as a mass appeal product. It was expensive to produce compared to the LCD's, and the smallest screen size was 43 as against the more popular 32 inches. It's on record that the Pioneer Kuro is regarded as one of the best tv's ever made. Plasma at its finest....bought over by Panasonic to inspire it's V20 models.
LCD's never could produce the deep blacks plasma screens were known for, so in came LED screens. Better contrast and brighter, these screens were a delight. Each pixel could be lit individually to achieve an almost plasma level blackness. But it wasn't enough. It was still an LCD screen, and naturally bedeviled by those pesky motion bluriness you see on fast moving objects. Not a favourite when watching sports.
The new baby on the block is OLED. Yeah, they finally got it right. Something to match the plasma's. Characterized by deep inky blacks, OLED screens are a delight to watch. Vivid colour reproduction unmatched anywhere, coupled with a 4k resolution and dynamic HDR ( High dynamic range). If you can afford it, dive in. It's future proof, can't say the same about your pockets though. Have fun watching.
