Now that most people know and everything is resolved... 27 started off to a wet start. Car was totaled in a flash flood. I drove a rental toaster that I named “meep meep” and I now have a new car. 27 you have been way too exciting thus far, so let’s tone it down a notch and save excitement for more fun events #happybirthdaytome #cartroubles #flashflood #kia #optima #chevyspark
Weeping Rock at Zion National Park. No weeping but flash floods instead! Our hiking was interrupted by some incredible afternoon thunderstorms but it made for some great pictures and dropped the temperatures down from 95° to 65°. Ahhh, so refreshing and such incredible views with the lightning strikes all over the park. Water water everywhere! #flashflood #zionnationalpark #thunderstorm #summerhikes #weepingrock #utah

We'll it's that time again. The sound of distant rumblings, followed by rapidly building clouds. Trees start to bend as the wind picks up. The electric energy is buzzing, when the sky finally cracks open with a flash, unleashing a biblical torrent. But as quickly as it started, it's over. The sound of rushing water, and the pungent smell of creosote is all that's left, as the songbirds pick up, where they left off. Yes, my favorite time of year. Happy monsoon all.

Left: What Havasupi is supposed to look like. Right: What Havasupi looks like this week with flash-flooding! Our destination in 2 weeks??!! Yikes! #imworried #havasupaifalls #flashflood
The rain here tonight has massive thunder hail and lightening it can cause massive flash floods u need to b indoors 100% and preferably not under ground or basements. #lasvegas #rain #flashflood #weather
Our river was nearly dry due to this horrible drought but tonight it’s suddenly full again. It sounded like a herd of galloping horses. Hope our neighbors upstream are ok! Oh, and we still got no rain:-( #flashflood #waterispowerful
Mountain biking during monsoon season is sketchy. I guess Apache wash has a name for a reason, right? I had to go uphill and over the mountain today. Oh well, better exercise.
It's nice to have the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway open again! •
After heavy rains this week, many trails and roads were closed because of rockfalls and flood damage. Now that it has been a few days, the damage that was easy to repair has been completed. The remaining closures will take time to reopen. The current closures include the Kayenta and Upper Emerald Pools trails, and the West Rim Trail between the Grotto and Cabin Spring (which is how you get to Angels Landing). •
We will continue to work hard to reopen these areas and update our website and social media as soon as we know more. If you were planning on hiking one of the closed areas, please go to our website to find other options or consider coming to Zion some other time. •

Our bright crystal clear and tropical day turned into a truly scary experience. Around 6pm we were hit with a flash flood in the valley where we were camping. We had about 2 minutes to get to high ground. We all grabbed what we could—anything tied down along with the majority of our gear was quickly whisk away by water, trees, brush, and bridges that took our campsite and everyone else’s. We spent the night in the storms watching the water climb closer and planning another place to escape. The river lowered enough for us to forge across around 7am Thursday morning. Our group (6) and another group (7) were the last people to get out. After hiking the 2 miles to the village we were quickly airlifted to safety. Thankfully we and the other 200 people are safe. You can see the destruction and aftermath in some of these photos. Thank you @derekjameselstro @zanelamprey
for your leadership, courage, and love for us to ensure we were safe. Thank you @mellamprey
for your calming sense, reminders that we will be okay, and your warm snuggles. Xo. #campingtrip2018 #havasupaifalls #flashflood #thankful
