Some meal prep for the next few days because life is getting way too busy! Was feeling for some #TexMex and #Jamaican food so I did both, and made it #VEGAN 😎! Here’s what you’re looking at: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Breakfast: 🍌Oatmeal with chia seeds + shaved almonds with some mixed berries to top it off. Will add the almond milk in the morning! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Breakfast 2/Snack: 🍒Almond butter & Wild berry jelly sandwich (SO much better than PB&J) with homemade trail mix, and a side of apples and bananas. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lunch: 🍲TexMex Vegan Chick’n bowl with corn, black beans, roasted veggies, and sweet potatoes. BACK WIDTH VS BACK THICKNESS💥 . Complete back development requires way more than just few sets of rows and pulldowns. Attention to details and "dimensional look" is what matters too.✔ . Here is why pull ups as a closed chain movement are unbeatable for back width! 🔴Movements like pulldowns and straight arm pulldowns are undeniably great for lats activation but since they actually have "fixed" position; you can completely control the elbow movement angle and the line which doesn't require stabilization. If a movement doesn't require stabilization it automatically minimizes the engagement of "stabilization support" muscles. . 🔴Lats size/muscle mass will add to width but only to a certain point. Most of your visual width comes from a fact your lats "lay" on teres major. Developed teres major will push lats horizontally "out" and give you those "wings". . 🔴Only exercise in existence that has "complete" teres major mean/peak activation are pull ups. Pull ups have free movement and they require massive synergistic muscle activation. . 🔴Pulldowns are great but if your back width is lagging your best bet is a closed chain movement with 2 mechanical roles; shoulder joint stabilization and elbow joint adduction.✔ . Rows are the best for back thickness right? Yeah they're great BUT a lot of back thickness comes from "hidden" muscles placed underneath the obvious ones like lats and mid traps. You need to develop your rhomboids too to "push" mid traps more out.✔ . 💡Rhomboids are primarily synergist in shoulder joint stabilization. While rows are great; rack pulls and heavy deadlifts have even higher rhomboids activation. . Or... we are giving ourselves unrealistic ‘to do’ lists to complete, or we are time wasting (i.e. falling down the social media rabbit hole when you are supposed to be doing a quick post 😅). All of which is fine, if you are happy with where you are at! However, if you want to see a change in your results or current situation then now is the time to look at what you are prioritising and where your time is spent. 😝🌺🌿 Exercise can be an addiction. Exercise can be or become unhealthy. Being considerably underweight should not be ignored🙅🏻 your body will not be okay in the long run. REST REST REST we need it. It's when your muscles grow. And more importantly RECOVER. For me 5-6 days a week, training, some low intensity, cardio, hikes, yoga, swimming etc Some days of more intense exercise ; weights, HIIT, rock climbing, astanga yoga and gymnastics and active recovery days such as walks and yin yoga ( YIN is a life changer and really helps with restlessness, stress, flexibility and muscle pain) if you think rest days are boring lemme tell you. Part one of THE TANNING EXPERIENCE: Being in line with many competitors of all categories. Seeing girls with a funky shower cap, yet wearing one yourself, plus wearing a bikini and sandals. Some looked happy as if they been there before and others with a deer in the headlight look 👀. When it’s your turn to receive your first layer, little do you know the spray tan feels wet and cold. Like nitrogen cold. ❄️ To my experience, here’s a few facts... Fact #1 : YOU STINK BAD 🤢💨 👃. Your first layer of spray tan is applied the night before the competition. So from your final shower pre-tan, until after the night show, you DO NOT get to wear deodorant 😐. Why? Because the chemicals in the deodorant will react with the spray tan and turn your pits green. 🤦🏻‍♀️Not cute. But don't worry, you aren't the only one smelling a little a wet penny and looking like a oompa loompa. Fact #2 : YOUR TAN IS NOT SPLASH PROOF. So now you have this beautiful first coat of spray tan and they send you on your way and tell you not to mess it up. You have to pee. You hover over the seat .. and... well, we are all female here we know how it goes. You can't always count on a steady stream straight into the bowl and ANY splash will streak your tan. But don't worry.. they can fix even the worst of streaks.. trust me. I'm sure if you use your imagination, you can figure out how this party trick works. If I can give you one piece of advice... DO NOT FORGET THE DIXIE CUPS..or be prepared to suffer the humiliation of multiple trips to get your tan touched up . Fact # 3 YOU WAKE UP ON SHOW DAY..AND YOU RUINED YOUR TAN. Show day, you wake up and realize the perfect tan that you went to sleep with, is now ruined with patches from the bedding and streaks from your own sweat which happened while you were sleeping.
