Last fall I blew up in a half marathon and nearly stopped distance running. I was burned out, getting slower, and not enjoying it. I decided to give it another shot, changed how I train, and today ran 9 minutes faster on a crowded, hilly course, and it felt awesome. Later when we got home from NYC, my 8-year old daughter, home from her very first #girlsontherun
practice, asked me if I won the race. My answer? Absolutely-today Mom killed her race. 28 days until Boston. #momlife #workhardtrainsmart #runnyc

Being able to fire opposite sides of the body simultaneously is a basic skill for proper functionality. Start with bird dogs on the floor and then progress to less stable positioning and/or add resistance with weights 👍🏻... it’s pretty clear that one side of me is a little less functional 🤪
2x 11.2 km today. First in my old Nike Pegasus and then in the new Adidas Ultra Boost. The new shoes look a bit strange and are tight fitting like wearing socks. But this is actually really great - the shoe feels like it is part of the foot, and not some external extension. More stability and control. Whether it helps my problem area right ankle / archilles / calf remains to be seen. But a promising start.

I’m full aware there’s nothing wrong with the girl on the left but the girl on the right in this current moment has set a huge FLIPPING goal for herself.
Training for a Bodybuilding Competition is no joke it takes willpower, sacrifice, dedication and courage.
Is it for everyone? Nope absolutely not & that’s ok. There’s plenty of fitness type events that others train for that just aren’t for me & that’s cool too!
I’ve learned a lot in the 2 years between my first show & this show, my training style and nutrition plan are different, I’m different, I’ve got a new coach, new teammates, new and old friends cheering me on along the way and that feels AMAZING! 🍀
My tip to you is don’t be afraid to GO FOR IT. Don’t be afraid to put your blinders on, ignore those you question you & work for what you want 💜
Health & Fitness have no off season it’s simply an Improvement Season.

I’m not officially registered for the “Open” this year, but I wanted to try the first half of 18.4 (Diane). Wow. That is one hell of a workout. Took me over 13 minutes! I can’t Rx a HSPU yet, so that half of the workout was scaled. I used 2 ab mats and still struggled with that amount of HSPUs. 😝I’m still learning and practicing all of this. It’s so much fun and so infuriating all at the same time. But that’s why I ❤️ it! Some food prep for the week. Egg casserole, which consists of ground turkey sausage, diced tomatoes, broccoli, spinach, and cheddar cheese. Press the meat to bottom of baking pan, mix other ingredients together and pour over meat. Bake until set and top with shredded cheese last 5 minutes in oven. Cut into squares for the week. Hard boiled eggs... I peel them ahead of time. Much easier when in a hurry. I always prepare fruit ahead of time too. Anything that needs peeling or washing is done ahead and stored for the week. I made a trail mix with raw almonds, walnuts, dried cranberries and 60% cocoa chips. I then pack in small containers to grab for the week for my post workout snack. Plain Greek yogurt topped with frozen fruit and two tablespoons of granola. Tomorrow I’ll make chicken salad, tuna, and protein banana muffins for the rest of the week. I ran out of time today😕.... #happyprepping

☘️ Struggle ☘️ OH MY GAWD, I struggled with getting this “after” pic today… On the one hand, it needs to be a true representation of my progress, on the other hand, I want to feel good about the picture... .

I wanted to, so that irritates me A LOT however, I’m going to put into writing all that I did achieve in the last 8 weeks so I can be grateful & not pissed off today 🙏🤗😜
And also 👉 One of goals for this 8 week plan was to get comfortable wearing these awful 🤮 shorts...I’m happy to say that I achieved that. All those hours on the stairmaster + heavy lunges + step ups + hip thrusters seem to be paying off 💪🙌

RECIPE BELOW plus optional changes! 😀(I hate having to go to another website to get recipes- don’t you?)🍴🍤 So if you follow me, you know I hate a lot of ingredients so this is pretty fancy for me. But in keeping with my style, there’s no fancy prep work or stove laboring! No milking a cow and making your own butter! 😜👍
The rice is **SO CREAMY AND TASTY** that you may like it without the shrimp. You could also make it with frozen, uncooked, skinless chicken tenders, just bump the cook time to 25 minutes.
Instapot Lemon Parmesan Shrimp🧀🍤 Put in #Instapot
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 3.5 cups water
- 1/4 cup lemon juice mixed with 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 Tbsp garlic powder - 1.5 cups Silk lite Coconut Milk
- 1 Tbsp powdered chicken bouillon - 3/4 lb frozen cooked Kirkland shrimp, no tail
SET PRESSURE COOK AT 20 MINUTES.
When done, keep on warm setting 3-5 minutes then vent. Stir in 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (I used the plastic jar- not block cheese) and optional but recommended 1-2 Tbsp Kerry Gold butter. Turn off warmer and replace lid so moisture will help loosen rice stuck to the bottom.
Feeds 4-6 easily!

I barely recognize that girl from ⬇️ 2015! 🗨️ I was a completely different person.... 💋
It was a struggle to get out of bed daily! 🛏️ I often wondered if my kids would be better off with a different mom. ☔ I was unhappy, felt unattractive, and I felt I had no purpose to keep going despite having 5 little kids.
The frustrating part 😬 was that my doctor told me that it would be impossible to lose weight because of my hashimotos disease and to either just accept that I would be like the before photo or take weight loss medication.
I knew I had to make a change. 🌈 I knew my kids needed me. I knew my husband needed me.
Saying that I needed help to get healthy,🤚 that I needed to invest 💵 in myself was the hardest thing I have ever done. 💯 As a mom, maybe you can relate...everyone else's needs come first.
I realized if I was going to be the mom I had always dreamed of.... I had to put myself first. ❤️ And ladies, that doesn't mean you are being selfish... In fact, it is actually the opposite....🚫 not taking care of yourself is being selfish! You are saying that the time with them doesn't matter...that you would rather live in pain, depression, or the shell of a person you have become.
I can say that because I have been there. ✋ That was me before I said enough is enough.
There have been days I wanted to give up. Days I didn't see the results I thought I should be seeing. There are days I wanted to eat a whole mixing bowl of cookie dough 🍪 (some days I did give in) but I have learned that this journey isn't about me anymore. 👨👩👧👦 My children are watching. 👀 They are learning how to treat their bodies, how to talk to themselves, how to have a relationship with food based off of what they see me do! 👣
