Yes!!! And it's going to be native 4k instead of an upscale. That's how you release a proper 4k horror movie instead of these 2k scan of a 4k remaster. #halloween #4k
REPULSION - 1965
Director - Roman Polanski
Cast - Catherine Deneuve, Ian Hendry, John Fraser, Yvonne Furneaux, Patrick Wymark.
Polanksi’s first english film is an atmospheric, disturbing film.
Deneuve’s Carol is a beautiful blonde young lady who quite obviously from the start has some strange issues going on in her head.. Blank stares into nothing, poor concentration at the beauty salon and uninterested attention of a young man. She is also disgusted at her sister’s partners bathroom habits and the sexual divulgence he endures with her sister.. is she depressed or just turned off by men..is it all in her head and not real ?..
I found Repulsion giving me a feeling claustrophobia. I had heard about this film and was eager to see what it was all about but I didn’t realise a movie from 1965 would either scare or create such an uneasy feeling! The long pauses of no dialogue but just the ticking of the clock or the sound of the church bell.. the crashing cymbols seems so loud in contrast given the tense silence of the build up in some scenes, puts the viewer on edge! The effects of an apartment cracking and falling apart while flies buzz incessantly to left over food, while this girl has visions of violence and rape..All creates so much atmosphere..it’s certainly a unique film that made me jump a couple of times! Catherine Deneuve is very good as she looks innocent and confused, but beautiful!
Maybe not a film for the masses but those who enjoy the origins of psychological horror films with great cinematography and dark, disturbing themes will appreciate.
Trivia: The first film to contain a female orgasm in sound..
5 Best Moments from Godzilla 2 Trailer!
5. He Has Awoken!
Godzilla is back! It seems as if he’d went into hiding after the events of Godzilla, possibly after mankind ruthlessly hunted him, but now he’s back to save the entire planet from certain doom.
4. Savior of All Mankind?
His nuclear breath does seemingly look like it will be of much use during a time where a vicious virus is spreading across the air. Perhaps his breath will help clear abit of that poisonous chemical and return some normalcy to mankind.
My only gripe with how Mothra appears in this trailer is that she isn’t colorful enough. Bar that, I cannot wait to see her in action in this movie. What role she plays will certainly be important; if she is Godzilla’s friend then humanity will be fine. If she sides with the other two, we’re certainly doomed.
2. Rhodan Erupts
Now we know exactly where Rhodan comes from. He erupts from a volcano that has seemingly trapped him for eternity, and even his other shots in the trailer imply he’s lava based, and the sheer air from his wings will destroy cities upon cities.
1. King Ghidorah Rises
Talk about goosebumps. Ghidorah is Godzilla’s most powerful, most vicious villain and I genuinely believe he’ll be the main baddie in the film. He’s taller than he’s ever been, and I think the director made a wise decision to save his big full look reveal for the final film. This is going to be spectacular. #godzilla

Berlin Syndrome (2017), directed by Cate Shortland.
My rating: 8/10. .
“What would be the worst thing I could ever do to you? Don’t worry, I will not do it. We are a team.”
An Australian woman (Teresa Palmer) with a fascination for East German architecture is touristing Berlin. When she is out taking photos for a potential book, she meets a man by chance. They strike up a conversation and later a mutual attraction arises. That evening they end up in the mans appartment and in his bed. The morning after when Clare is leaving she cant find a key and she cannot open the door from inside. Her sim card is gone and she realizes that she is trapped.
The title ”Berlin Syndrome” is obviously a play on words with the Stockholm dito. But I could not see any sympathy from Clare towards her abductor. She tries to escape several times, but in periods she looses hope. We get to follow their day to day life in this strange relationship. Clare tries to make her self comfortable by reading books and painting her toe nails while still planning her escape.
This film reminded me of John Fowles book “The Collector” (without the class aspect) which has a similar premise. A man kidnaps a girl with the hope that if she gets to know him she will fall in love.
There has also been real cases of this. In Sweden a doctor fed a girl drugged strawberries(!) and kidnapped her from a date. So when I saw the strawberries in this film...
The acting is this one was really great, especially from Teresa Palmer, a raw and very realistic performance. Thanks to her good performance I could easily sympathize with her and while watching I kept trying to come up with potential ways she could escape! This was a great and captivating abduction thriller and now I am interrested to explore more of Shortlands earlier films. I actually just missed Lore a couple of years ago at Stockholm Film Fest. Thanks to @dalek_goa___t
for the recommendation btw!

Oh cool, it’s Jane Campion chatting on set with Ben Whishaw, Abbie Cornish, and her coffee for Bright Star (2009), a film that requires an oxygen mask to watch because you’re hyperventilating from all its goddamn heart-stopping beauty. I’ve loved Jane Campion for so long, from her earlier works like Sweetie and An Angel At My Table, to The Piano, to this film poetry they’re making here, to, of course, Top of the Lake. She’s the second of the five women who have ever been nominated for an Oscar for Best Director, and every frame of her films looks like a work of art. As I heard on set once, “each shot you photograph should be something you’d frame and hang on a wall.” O Jane, you are my #motivationmonday

Review: Dangal (India 2016) Rating: 10/10
Genre: Sports Drama/ Biopic
Director: Nithesh Tiwari
A must see Bollywood film for Cinephiles and Movie Lovers.
Based on a True Story. Aamir Khans plays Mahavir Sing Phogat a former Indian national wrestling champion who battles social boundaries to train his Daughter to be world-class wrestlers.
What a great film. First of all, let me say that in my opinion, it's a very important movie with a deep message. It's about a wrestler who tries to train his daughters to be gold medal-winning wrestlers in a society where women don't do sports. A society where women are not equal, still today. He fights the barriers society imposed on his daughters.
The film has no classical Bollywood dance scenes, but some nice montage songs. The performance of Aamir Khan is outstanding and emotional, he doesn't doubt for a second. Always believing his Daughters can do it. And they did. Geeta and Babita Phogat are both several times gold winning wrestlers. But not only Aamir is great in the film. No Fatima Sana Shaikh did a great Job and gives us a very epic and emotional performance. As a martial artist, I feel the pain and the joy she and her sister Babita are going through during the training and competition.
Dangal was my first film with Fatima Shaikh but from now on I will follow her career.
I'm also Happy that the film was not only the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time with over 300 million US$. No, the film was also a personal success for Mahavir Singh Phogat and his Daughters Geeta and Babita. Geeta went from world-class wrestler to celebrity. They are household names now in India. The film was also good for the wrestling sport in India. In Haryana alone where opened 50 wrestling schools after the film success. And I hope very very much that the film encourages more parents to send their daughters into sports or martial arts. Not only in India but all around the globe!
For a great story, epic performances and hard work I give this film a rating 10/10. haven't seen it yet? Shut up stop what you are doing and watch it right now. Don't like Bollywood? Don't worry, you will, after Dangal
The two stories of NOCTURNAL ANIMALS (2016)
5 Best Moments from Aquaman Trailer!
5. A Kingdom At War!
There’s just something about seeing a bunch of Giant Sea Horses face off against a bunch of sharks. It’s obvious the seven kingdom’s are at war, and it will be interesting to see other species at odds.
This looks fantastic. Atlantis looks even more vibrant than Wakanda, and I for one cannot wait to be emersed in that world. A few CGI finishing touches should ensure Atlantis is a place everyone would like to come to.
3. Black Manta!
I had my reservations about him before, but now I believe Black Manta maybe the coolest looking villain in the Worlds of DC. His ability and hell-bent persona may warrant a sequel to this film as he apparently wont be the main villain, yet.
2. Save Mankind!
This has to be one of the coolest shots of the whole trailer. Mera and Arthur diving into the depths of the sea, chasing a hoard of hungry fish away from a boat. Just the aesthetic alone awes me.
1. All Out War!
The most epic frame of the entire trailer. Atlantis at war! Bare in mind this battle is taking place underwater and it will indeed be happening during the film’s ultimate conclusion. For one, I cannot wait to see a bunch of sea predators head to head against eachother in an all-out lava battle underwater. #aquaman
Rewatch: The Night of the Hunter (1955), the only film directed by the actor Charles Laughton. This is a movie of singular charms, idiosyncrasies and beauty, with a towering performance by Robert Mitchum and stunning black and white photography by Stanley Cortez. #thenightofthehunter
