-- This is part three of my last post. Recommended to see it before this one. --
was Orpheus's muse. He was in love with her, and wanted to marry her, so he asked #Himeneu
, God of Marriage, to bless their union. But he feels their happiness won't last long.
falls in love with her and tries to have her for himself. Scared, she runs, stepping on a snake, that bites her.
Orpheus, desolated, sings pleas that overcome the Gates of Hell and reach #Hades
Moved, he let's Orpheus take Eurydice back, with one condition: he couldn't look back at her.
He agrees, and soon leaves. But, when he was almost, almost there, he can't fight it, and turns back. With that, Eurydice is taken by dark forces again to the #Underworld
. He tries to enter again, but he can't. So, Orpheus is condemned to roam with his pleas between stones and mountains.
Ignoring all other women that wanted him, lost in between pleas and suffering, they get mad, throwing rocks at him. At first, none reached him, his music protected him. But, with all the yelling, his music is muffled, letting the objects hurt him.
Finally reaching Eurydice, Orpheus can now contemplate her figure without being punished.
It is a myth that talks about the power of #time
, about the right moment to #please
ourselves, and the power of music as a #transformation
