Starting weight: 340+lbs Current weight: 271 ___________ ___________ ___________ I used to be very insecure about the number on the scale and developed an unhealthy relationship with the scale throughout my journey. I would literally step on it everyday and get upset if the number went up even by a little. I’ve learned though that the number no longer has to represent who I am or how hard I’ve worked. It's been a while since I've done a scale update!. Last year I gained a crazy amount of weight, picked up alot of bad habits and lost all my confidence. I decided to change it and take control of my life again Jan 02/18. I haven't stopped since... In the process I've released 61lbs!!! Went from having 23% muscle mass to gaining it to 30% muscle mass. Getting closer to my goal. Consistency is my "secret". Throwback Thursday. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 It’s crazy how fast time flies. I remember feeling so gross in these pictures. I hated the way every single one came out. Because I look HUGE!! I even had spanks on. 😭😭 I knew I was having the surgery. But at this point in time I didn’t know the date or even the time of year I was going to have it. I never ever thought In just one year I’d be 130 lbs down. 🙀🙀 I don’t even recognize the girl on the right because I spent my whole life looking like the girl on the left. That dress is a size 26. 🤭🤭 I can now fit in it with a whole other person. I was really down on myself today because I feel like I’m not getting anywhere. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ This journey is not a sprint. It’s a marathon. I’m so thankful for my sleeve. It’s truly saved my life. If you’re pre op my advice to you is take LOTS of pictures. Happy #internationalyogaday 🙏🏻🧘🏻‍♀️ . Let me be COMPLETELY honest and say that before I tried yoga, I thought it was so freaking weird.🙈 . Did anyone else feel that way or does anyone feel that way now?🙋🏻‍♀️ . And I thought is was going to be SO HARD because I wasn’t flexible at all.🤸🏻‍♀️ . BUT I secretly wanted to try it. And what finally pushed me to take a yoga class was because I injured my back while lifting too heavy. & my stress and anxiety was out of control.😔 (oh, and @s_muchko triple dog dared me🙃) . I tried it, I absolutely LOVED it, and 3 months after taking my first yoga class I decided to get my yoga teaching certification, that’s how much I loved it🙌🏻 . Yoga healed my back and helped me get a handle on my anxiety and stress💕 . Yoga has taught me to have more awareness of my body and breath, and how powerful our bodies and breath are.😊 . Next time your stressed, take long deep breaths. Inhale peace, exhale worry.✨ . You’ll notice how powerful your breath truly is when you pause and take a couple deep breaths during stressful situations, before going into an event, before doing something that is going to take a lot of your energy💫 . I wish it was Friday so I could say Frittata Friday 🥚🍳 Sadly it’s only Thursday, BUT, this was still SO GOOD. I threw in any veggies I had (green/red peppers, broccoli, spinach, onions etc.) 🥦🍅🌶 One slice = 23 G protein 🤪😱
📉REVERSE DIET UPDATE📈 - It’s been about six weeks on my reverse diet. I went from trying to cut at 1530 calories to now eating 1930. From doing 30 minutes of cardio 6-7x a week to now doing 10 minutes 3-4x a week. My average weight has gone down 2lbs along with a slight decrease in body fat. - This reverse has been so eye opening. There was a point in my life where I was afraid to eat over 500 calories. I was going to the gym and doing 45 minutes of cardio every day if not twice a day. Now I’m eating more than 3x that amount and doing barely any cardio. - What a freaking mental challenge it was to stop wanting to see the scale drop. It’s still scary sometimes but the importance of this phase in my journey outweighs that fear. - Here’s to breaking the F out of comfort zones and doing what you know needs to be done. 2015 ➡️ 2018 (Rant Below...) - Short-term satisfaction is everyone’s biggest enemy. Nothing about a transformation like this is short-term and if you are are just starting your “fitness journey” don’t let this mindset occur. For permanent results, It takes a decision to change your lifestyle, not just a couple months of it. Where we as people become unstoppable when reaching our goals is when we start thinking of LONG-TERM gain and learn to enjoy the process. I was just as happy when I was 220 lbs as I am currently. I took this journey day-to-day and enjoyed the learning process and hardships that came with it! It hurts me to see people who want long lasting change dedicate only a short period of their lives to adapting a more “healthy-conscious” lifestyle. With that said, don’t overwhelm yourself... sometimes the only change you may need is to track your calories and learn how many you need to eat each day to control your Bodyweight. This is a game of constant learning, trial and error, along with the ability to enjoy every era of the process. CALORIE DENSE FOODS by @Driscollstrength - Save this post for the next time you go to the grocery store! - Is your mouth watering by looking at the right side of this? Well STOP! Look here... - None of these foods need to be completely avoided. And if you’re on a diet that prohibits foods then you should probably find a new one. - The sole thing that makes it more difficult to lose fat and lose weight is.....drum roll....you guessed it...calories. - High calorie dense foods will make it significantly harder to lose fat because they have lots of calories per serving. Meaning very little if these foods will take up a large percentage of your daily calories. Typically these foods will be very simple sugars or carbs and will be digested very quickly leaving you hungry for more! - Low calorie dense foods make it easier for you to lose fat because you can eat more of them without taking in a bunch of calories. Thing like fruits, vegetables and higher protein items are going to be less calories dense and fill you up for longer. - Increase your chances of losing fat by choosing more from the left side of this chart. One aspect of health that is coming more and more into the scientific and public spotlight is that of the brain. - The brain is the "hub" of our body, which means it is of critical importance (I think that's pretty obvious lol). CHANGE 👏🏻 TAKES 👏🏻 TIME 👏🏻 . I know I preach this 25/8, but I honestly think that this is single handedly THE most important thing that people need to understand when they are beginning a fitness journey ❗️❗️ . It’s amazing what puberty, consistency, hard work, and better posture can do for a person 😅 #glowup but for real all of these things happened over the course of YEAR- 8 YEARS to be exact . Why am I making this a point to stress? Because I have people DMing me everyday asking how to lose 20lbs in 2 weeks, or how to gain muscle in under 3 months. I have clients who eat down on the self when they only lose 2lbs per week or haven’t seen IMMENSE gains in a mere 4 weeks - THIS IS WHY . We live in a society where we want immediate gratification. We WANT the results, but only want to work for them for an acute amount of time. We don’t want to view it as a lifestyle change, rather, we live in a society where fad diets and, conversely, steroids, are pushed to help people “achieve their goals faster” 🤦🏻‍♀️ . I’m sorry to be blunt but - THAT IS NOT HOW REAL SUSTAINABLE PROGRESS HAPPENS! 🙅🏻‍♀️ you NEED to commit. You NEED to invest your time and energy- your ALL- into it. You NEED to understand that you may not have your dream body for YEARS but that if you stick with it YOU W I L L 🙌🏻

However, that is definitely NOT needed in order to see success. Instead, just focus on easy portion control in every meal ~ One thing you’ll notice is that veggies and rice are in the same category. This is your carbs. Your main fuel source, and your main way of functioning day to day. Please do not neglect the carbs my friends 😊 ~ This is great to use at every meal. Just make sure you have a adequate amount of protein, carbs, and fats at each of the 3-4 meals that you consume day in and day out. Your weekend habits might be detrimental to your fitness progress, but you have control over that. Always keep that in mind! - 😅 Now, don’t get me wrong, lots of people actually do stick to their diet over the weekend and props to those people! But oh boiiiii, lots of people also screw up over the weekend. - Complete restriction during the weekdays leads to complete binges at the weekend. Lots of times. You see, it’s cool to go out with your friends on the weekends and enjoy yourself. But hey, please, for your own sake. Calm down a little. - Moderation. Don’t go on full blown cheat days and end up in a 1.6k calorie surplus that literally washes out ALL of the effort you’ve put in over the week. Because that what’s happens. When you go on a full blown cheat day - Just make sure your calories are where they’re supposed to be, also in the weekends. Enjoy yourself, in moderation. - Not on a full blown cheat day that wipes out all of the work you did over the week. That’s dumb and counterproductive. - Don’t forget to not restrict yourself too much and create a real lifestyle that supports your fitness, not one that destroys it. I don't really talk about mental health too much on Instagram but maybe I should. I'm sure there are a few people who's weight loss can sometimes be made even more difficult by what is going on mentally and emotionally. . Well I have Bipolar disorder and this is my concoction of medications I take twice a day every day.
