Over the last 10 years my dad and I have built a really strong bond. Growing up, we had a good relationship, but now he is my rock. When everything was crumbling around me, he was there to pick me up and be real with me. I asked him the hard questions and he gave me the real answers. We were there for each other, through some of the hardest years. He's never been embarrassed of me, he's never shamed me for my body or made me feel like I was a failure because of my mistakes or my shortcomings.
Being so far away from my family has been really hard, especially with my brother and my dad. They're both my biggest cheerleaders when it comes to my mental and physical health, but I'm just thankful to have them in my life at all.
