Our second camping trip to north Straddie with Max was a hit 😆 A totally different experience compared to a year ago. He wandered around site and played with sticks and sand. Entertained for hours by the beauty of our surroundings. No technology insight! We had whales and dolphins passing by all day long 🐬🐋 We use to camp a lot before max came along. For his first year of life I found going away with him really hard. Would he sleep? Would the room be dark enough? So much shit to pack! Going away now requires a whole lot more effort, and the car is packed to the rafters but the fun and memories are worth it. Even if he’s been sick all this week with a cold 🤕😂 I’m now excited for a few more camping trips this year⛺️🌲🍂 #funseekers #adventure #familycamping
“Fresh bear poop Auntie G?!” Uhhhh... yup! Right at the entrance of our campsite as we set our tent up in the dark. Although that’s a definite welcoming sign to me, he shakes his head and responds: “No. There’s no bears.” This four-year-old has already mastered the art of disbelieving and not accepting those things that scare us to cope with the unknown. We all do it and I’m guilty of it myself at times. He is seriously fearless though as he proceeds to tell me it’s ok, I just need to be quiet so they don’t hear me. Too bad he doesn’t know that I love to feed the wildlife. 💖🐻🏕 #fearlessatfour #familycamping #confrontyourfears #bear #canada #camping #thegreatoutdoors
Sometimes you have to bust the tent out for a quick camping trip with the fam.
If you ever get the chance to visit AZ we’d recommend checking out some of the beautiful trails near Sedona... @funtreks
can help guide the way.
We’re busy preparing for our next camping trip - out to Eastern WA this time! There are a few spots Gerald wants to photograph, and then of course, plenty of opportunities for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding AND looking for fossils! I think that’s the part we’re most excited about.
Well, Asher might be most excited about the s’mores. He looked at the TWO unopened graham cracker boxes I have and told me he was concerned it might not be enough.
Since our first camping trip was a bit of a crash course (disaster) in terms of preparedness, we are trying to fine tune our system and make check lists as well as organize everything into its own container. We figure we aren’t the only family that has struggled with this, so once we fine-tune the process, we plan to share about it on our travel blog. Wait, did I say travel blog?!?
That’s right, post numero uno is now on https://theroamingpopes.com, with more scheduled to come in the weeks ahead!
Feeling kind of emotional as we’re leaving the east side of Glacier National Park and heading south toward home. Will camp tonight in Yellowstone, then probably Teton again before pointing the truck toward Boulder. Been on the road and in the tent almost two weeks, but I could keep going. ❤️⛺️⛰👨👩👦👦

🌲☀️Throwback 🏕 Tent Thursday 🔥Who takes all their dogs camping? We do . Between my 3, Chloe, Leah and Jake and their doggy cousins there are usually a total of 7. A playpen helps when we're trying to make food or cleaning up.. otherwise we go for lots of walks and hikes with them and at night they keep everyone warm..😁 .

Our family went camping this weekend and I wanted to share some packing ideas that could work for your family too! ✔️Pack and prep dry goods a few days before. How you pack and prep is important. Think about what will work best for your group. ✔️Easy breakfast. Overnight oats are not only so yummy but they are so easy! Pack the oatmeal in the container where the oats will soak. Start soaking the oats after dinner and keep in cooler. Packing milk that doesn’t need to be refrigerated until it is opened enables you to put in cooler once space has opened up 😉. A bento box makes oatmeal toppings simple and offers variety. #familycamping #packingforcamping #balancedlifeorganizingcompany
In what feels like never ending preparation, the lovely folks at @wearewunderlife
have helped us out when it comes to keeping our stuff and rear ends dry whilst at Camp Bestival. ⛺
This handy bag and rug (aka Brug!) will be perfect for main stage viewing and, dare I say it, suddenly having to up sticks and run from potential rain showers. Just collect the corners of the rug using a handy drawstring and you're good to go with a nifty bag containing all your items. I can also see this being perfect for quickly tidying up lego ready for the next day. I frickin' love clever stuff like this.
