People often ask, how do you do it? How do you travel so much? ... and to be frank, I don’t travel nearly as much as I want to. It’s hard. It takes patience, sacrifice, budgeting and being uncomfortable but still pulling the trigger and just doing it. Did I save for this trip? No, not really. I actually sold a bunch of gear of mine to help with spending money. But even just having what was in my pocket was enough to make me go and just figure it out if shit hit the fan.
People who travel don’t really show the struggles of the whole experience and just how uneasy it is. You pay to use the bathroom, you pay for water, you pay for taxes, you pay for every thing but honestly... I don’t mind because the experiences will outweigh those cons. Instead you get to eat new foods, meet new people, do new things and see new places. Just immerse yourself, learn the language, avoid the touristy places, and the menus written in English. Try walking down empty alleys and talking to locals for advice, go to a soccer game and yell passionately with the fans and sing their victory songs as if they are your own.
Stop thinking about when that ticket will be $50 less, stop thinking about how safe a country is made out to be or not to be. Just buy that damn ticket and go. You’ll thank yourself once you walk out of the airport and smell the air of a new country and see all those photos you’ve been staring at... come to life right in front of you.
