What is that? Exactly: The tallest building in the world - #burjkhalifa
Actually, the Burj Khalifa was the reason why I wanted to discover Dubai in the first place.
There are quite contested views about Dubai. Let me say, I totally understand why people don‘t like it and don‘t want to take a trip at all. Indeed, the UAE is a peculiar country and the sheikhs totally exaggerate every now and then. Yet, to me this was exactly what I really liked about it. Sometimes it just is the „too much“ which has that certain appeal to me 😃 It is simply very interesting to discover all the idiosyncrasies and contrasts. And if you like, you will also find traditional heritage and pure Arab culture a little bit outside of city center. Fun fact here: After having been there, I wanted to learn Arabic. Basically, I still want to. Why? Well, the causes are quite stupid, but I guess that is who I am 😅 First: I never liked the sound of that language in Germany, but when driving by tram in Dubai, all of a sudden I absolutely LOVED it. For some time, I even knew the sentence for „caution, the door is opening“ by heart 😂 Second: I was totally stunned by seeing the signs of Starbucks, McDonald‘s etc. in Arabic letters 😍
I absolutely would love to come back one day. Perhaps with @mrn_grmsl.
Maybe not in August then, as this clearly was waaaaaay too hot. 😅 You wouldn‘t want to be outside for more than a very few minutes 🙈 I really loved chilling „on the beach“ - in the water, for that matter 😁 Actually, we’ve spent like 4-5 hours/day on the beach - and I’ve been in the water... 4-5 hours 😂 But it was sooo relaxing, you wouldn‘t believe it. Just doing nothing. Literally NOTHING. Only floating around in the ocean 😎
All in all, I only can hand out one advice: Don‘t follow the idea to go jogging in the morning. Even before 7 o‘clock when you think it might be endurable. It is NOT NOT NOT! ☝🏼 I tried jogging along the beach for 15 minutes and was totally exhausted at the end - for the entire rest of the day! 😅
