The enemy is not out there. It is within you.
The anger, fear, or sadness you feel from what someone said or did is not coming from an outside source. That person did not give you anger, fear, or sadness. The something they did or said sparked that emotion within you because the hurt is within you, a button that exists as a defense mechanism, and the only way it knows how to react when it gets pushed is with either of those emotions. Or maybe all three at once.
The hurt is in you, my friends, and it is your job to soothe it. Once you battle and defeat the enemies that live within you, you will find that nothing can touch you, nothing can cause you anger, fear, or sadness without your permission. And there is such great power in that.

Love is THE most important part of your well being .Most of the deaths happening in today’s times are not due to starvation or disease, but if you dig deeper into it, it’s due to severe emotional and sensorial deprivation. This Sanskrit word means the bliss of Being. But the word “Being” can be a challenge to grasp for those who are consumed in doing or thinking. I was having session with one of my young patients recently and she laughed at me when I asked her, “Are we human doings or human beings?”. It was a cute moment and a funny way to grab her attention. But she is one of my many patients in which her overthinking is actually doing her harm. .
We don’t realize how much we rob ourselves of the present moment when we get caught up in the overthinkings and doings of our day. Eckhart Tolle talks a lot about this in his book “A New Earth”. Instead of getting lost in thinking, you can recognize yourself as the AWARENESS behind it. Thinking then does not have to run your life but can become a servant of your awareness.
“Awareness is conscious connection with universal intelligence. Another word for it is Presence: consciousness without thought.” Can we try to bring more awareness to each moment? Can we use overthinking as a message to ourselves to remember our ability to be AWARE? .
Building this awareness is like a muscle and if we want it, like anything else, it needs to be practiced. If this can bring more Presence to each of our moments, we are practicing the state of Being. And not be so consumed with our human doings and thinkings. A lot of people say life is short, but when we make awareness a practice, it becomes more natural. In that, we feel there’s no time limit. And we can just Be. More in each moment. .

One of the hardest parts of healing Chronic Lyme were the feelings of depression & despair. Living with chronic illness is HARD & being in full time treatment mode was exhausting on every level. Truthfully, there were plenty of times when I struggled to stay positive.
A couple years ago, while stuck at a healing plateau, I sunk into a really deep despair. I knew I needed some new tools to help me keep my head up. That’s when I first started doing Full Page Gratitude Lists.
This practice, though simple, is absolutely transformative. I use it whenever I need to pull myself out of a funk & refocus on my blessings. Folks, I HIGHLY recommend it. Here’s how to do it:
✨ Pick a time + place & commit to setting aside 10-20 minutes for this practice. I recommend doing it daily, for at least week or until you notice a shift in your mood & outlook.
✨ On a full page of lined paper, start by writing: “I < insert your full name > am grateful for:” Doing so makes the whole exercise one powerful affirmation.
✨ Fill the page with all the things you can think of that you’re grateful for, using a comment to separate them. Some days it may be easy. Other days it may feel impossible. Stick with it & really search out all the things you could be grateful for.
✨ If you get stuck, look around. It’s A Okay to list things like “this pen & paper to write on.” Listing simple things (pen) can lead us to thinking of other things we usually take for granted (I’m grateful I can read & write, that I received an education.)
✨ Feel free to reuse things day by day. Doing so just re-affirms that you’re grateful for them!

Want to know one of the best ways to take care of your mental health? Be intentional! Take the time every day, even if just for a minute, to do something for you. It doesn’t have to be a big thing, as long it is intentionally done to take care of your mental health. When intentional action is done, results aren’t far behind. For me today, it’s connecting with a friend and taking the time to slow down between appointments. What will you do today?
Stress can be positive or negative. When stress sparks personal achievement or life enjoyment and appreciation (positive stress), it helps us feel enthusiastic, creative, productive and motivated. But stress can easily spiral out of control, becoming overwhelming and negative distress, taking its toll on our physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.
WHAT IS WORK-LIFE BALANCE?
One hundred percent balance between work and the rest of our lives is not realistically possible but you can try to get as close to a perfect balance as possible. The top stress complaints I regularly encounter are family or marital problems, deadlines, work-related stress, fatigue and a sense that life seems unsatisfactory and unbalanced – a pervading feeling of ‘is this all there is?’. The good news is that radical lifestyle changes aren’t required. Standing back, trying to see the bigger picture, then making one or two small, personally strategic changes are often all that’s necessary.
WHY DO WE NEED THIS BALANCE?
When considering the dimensions of our ideal lives, we must include: the physical body; the mental body or intellect; the emotional body; the soul body (related to life meaning and purpose); the occupational or work dimension; the social dimension of interaction with others and groups; and also the environmental dimension, where we form part of a bigger picture from communities to the natural, global and universal environment. To remain in healthy and happy balance we have to allocate enough time to each of these dimensions. As soon as one is out of balance, the scale tips and we become overwhelmed and distressed.
