Sunday brunch of smashed avocado on sourdough with turmeric, sea salt and black pepper. The perfect meal after I skipped a sleep in to mow the lawns. Partner is on a late shift today so I took one for the team and let him stay in bed. It was cloudy and cool at first but by the time I got to the backyard the sun was beating down. Let’s talk indulgence. This right here, this to me is indulging. Why? Because a $5 pint of ice cream💸 with sugary peanut butter is something I rarely eat and don’t think is best for my physical health (has absolutely nothing to do with the calories). I feel best eating low sugar, real, unprocessed, whole foods for the most part.
This ice cream has some questionable ingredients (IMO) and I don’t really like consuming cane sugar (in both the pb and ice cream). BUT, this type of treat from time to time is something that keeps me emotionally/mentally happy and healthy! I could choose real ice cream but I don’t tolerate lactose well and I could choose a vegan variety (which I sometimes do) but I like eating the whole pint and would prefer something that doesn’t leave me stuffed.
I don’t show everything I eat on here because that’s way too much posting and frankly no ones business, but I also don’t try to hide anything. I don’t eat perfectly; sometimes too much, sometimes not quite enough, sometimes too much sugar, sometimes not enough veggies. I’m only human ❤️ .
I think “indulgence” is different for everyone. Different foods work for different people and I’m just sharing my journey, my recipes, and pieces of my life in order to inspire, develop relationships and connections and because this is something I enjoy!

(And ps, I know a lot of people prefer Halo Top to Arctic Zero, but I don’t! I think Halo top is too sweet and has a grainy texture. Heat up arctic zero and it’s creamy & smooth 🤤)

Lazy girl dinner. Butternut squash avocado toast. -preheat oven to 375 degrees -cut butternut squash into small cubes -place on baking sheet. Season with salt, pepper, and cumin. Drizzle EVOO, toss, and spread into even later. Roast for about 20 minutes
-While squash roasts, toast 2 slices of whole wheat bread -spread 1/4 avocado on each slice, top with squash, and enjoy!

Anyone who knows me knows I am a breakfast food fiend! While my favorite indulgences are mostly just different forms of bread (bagels, French toast, and waffles, anyone?), my go-to for the past year has been dressed-up Greek yogurt. ☀️
The protein in the yogurt helps keep me full, and changing up the toppings is an easy way to add variety so I don’t get bored throughout the week. I usually opt for fruit, chia seeds, granola, oats, almond butter, or all of the above! Top it all off with a drizzle of honey for sweetness and you have a healthy start to your day that honestly tastes like a dessert! 🍓
To save even more time, I like to layer my ingredients in mason jars the night before so I can just grab them from the fridge and go in the morning. This is a lifesaver for people like me who are somehow always running late... 🤭

Totally agreed, “felt understood” and therefore highly liked by us - we cook your recipe in honour of it. In fact, WE don’t cook, we actually let the oven do the work, we put the legs up and get a glass 🥂( it’s Sunday after all)

Instant quick lunch here. Had a big bowl of basic salad in the fridge, so scooped out a heap & having it with some ready roasted chicken I picked up from Costco earlier. 🍗 Not my usual choice because I prefer pastured and Organic but this still beats take out. Fast food doesn’t have to be bad food.
After a long day of moving furniture, painting, and more painting all I could think about was dinner time! ( who am I kidding that’s me everyday 🤣) Grilling was the name of the game tonight ... Grilled turkey burgers with grilled asparagus and sweet potatoes.

I sliced one large chicken breast in half horizontally to keep my portion in check. Then loaded up on veggies with artichoke and tomatoes with a side of asparagus easily steamed straight from the freezer. I used @mrs.dash
Tomato Basil blend and some of the oil from the artichoke jar to season the chicken. All served with a @bluemoonbrewco
