Before I dive full throttle into my experience with a plant based diet and why I decided it was a good decision for me, I want to preface this with a couple things. First, that I am NOT claiming to be a doctor, nutritionist, or health professional of any kind. This should in no way be taken as professional advice. I’m simply sharing my perspective and what I know based on my research and personal experience. EVERY BODY is different. We do not all have the same needs.Second, I want to really, really reinforce the idea of everything in moderation, including moderation. I do not, nor will I probably ever, be that girl that can go out with her girlfriends and drink water and order the kale salad with balsamic vinegar while her friends split a cheesy pepperoni pizza and a bottle of wine. To me, that’s not living, and while I agree with doing what you can to live your fullest, healthiest life, I also believe in living that life. What’s the point in living to 100 if you miss out on all the fun? Kept craving something sweet and being on this protein and veg diet only not much leeway. Decided to find something that once I start introducing things to my body again I would be able to have and it would be healthy. Do you realize that you might be just a few small, sustainable steps away from getting on track to your weight loss goals? ^ Here’s some ideas to consider 👇🏽 ^ 1.) Switch to diet pop and calorie free drinks. There’s a million and a half great options. Stop drinking your calories. ^ 2.) Prioritize protein. Buffet? Potluck? No problem. Enjoy a little bit of each thing you want, but start out with some protein. It will fill you up a bit and you will make sure to get some #gains in there ^ 3.) You don’t have to give up cheddar biscuits when you go out to dinner (yanno, the red lobster ones?) you just have to give up eating 6 cheddar biscuits 🤷🏼‍♀️ #guilty ^ 4.) Drink your water. ^ 5.) Switch to fat free/ low fat options. Example: I eat a bag of popcorn everyday. At least one bag. Low fat popcorn still tastes great (and I add tons of cheesy popcorn salts duh- cause there’s no calories in that) and has 100-200 less calories per bag That’s 700-1400 calories a week. THATS POTENTIALLY 1/4 POUND RIGHT THERE. Example B: low/ fat free coffee creamer. Still tastes great. Saves me tons of calories (who else drinks 29 cups of coffee a day? 🙋🏼‍♀️) ^ Can you think of other ways you can easily save yourself some calories? ^ Small steps. Little changes. So idk if you guys remember but I was trying out the whole gluten free thing for a couple of weeks before I came on this trip and I had a feeling I was gluten sensitive. I did a little bit of research and symptoms for adults seem to be quite different to those for children and can include fatigue, anxiety, depression, dermatitis and getting pins and needles all of which I experience a lot and I wanted to try out being gluten free and a lot of those things I was experiencing actually went away or improved! Now I’ve been on this trip and haven’t been gluten free and they’ve come back so defo will be getting a blood test asap once I’m home and will try going back to gluten free bc it does make me feel better. Been reading quite a bit on what morning drink I can have instead of tea, milk and sugar and managed to find that a lot of people say hot water with lemon and a small squeeze of honey really helps! It detoxifies your body, aids digestion, melts down fat, clears the skin of acne and that’s just the start ! I've been having some time out from coffee recently. WHY? Many of you are probably asking! I was finding that my digestion and liver function were being impaired; I was bloated, not hungry in the morning, stools were becoming irregular (might be too much for some of you!) and just feeling sluggish. Caffeine impairs digestion and liver detoxification so it was one of the items I removed from my diet for a few weeks while working on gut healing and supporting the function of my liver. However while resting coffee, I renewed my interest in chai. I'm not talking about the powdered version but more the chai leaves - not only is it warming (needed in Melbourne now) but satisfying, boosts your immune system and tastes delicious. I will return to coffee at some point but I have to say that chai is making this break much less overwhelming than I previously expected.
This is me on a good day. Just like everyone else, I have bad days too. My body is allergic to stress. I’ve been living with EBV (Epstein Barr virus), chronic fatigue syndrome & depression since I was a teenager. It’s debilitating & knocks me down for days. I’ve been sick since Monday. Crying, anxiety, & restlessness turns into swollen lymph nodes, painful sore throat, fatigue & fever. It’s crazy how my body turns emotional pain into physical pain almost instantly. Because of this I have an increased risk for developing cancer & diseases. Over the past few years it’s gotten worse, & as a result I’ve had to distance myself from situations that used to cause me prolonged, unnecessary stress. I try not to stress out about getting stressed out, so I don’t get sick. 💪🏼 About a year ago I discovered @medicalmedium by others on IG who shared their stories. Although I haven’t been super strict with it, I have implemented food, supplements & lifestyle changes outlined in this book & have definitely seen results. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten sick. For anyone battling an ongoing illness, or simply looking to live a healthier life, I highly recommend his books! And for anyone who also suffers with any of these issues I’m here if you’re looking for someone to relate to.

Wow. Three years ago I was asked by my wonderful friend to join her in a couch to 5k program. That program jump started me into getting more serious about my health and exercise. Since then I have lost over 40 pounds, many inches, and lots of body fat. More importantly, I gained strength, confidence, and more control of my life (example: NO MORE MEDS!). About 10 years ago, while at my heaviest, I set a goal weight for myself. Found out this morning that I've got Coeliac Disease. Can't say that it was a massive shock but I'm now a bit stumped as to what I can and can't eat. As well as that, I'm severely anemic so I've been put on tablets to help buck me up a bit. After finding all this out, I'm now wondering if the griping pains after having any sort of dairy product is also some sort of intolerance, gonna mention it to the gastroenterologist when I go. I would have literally thought why an earth would you need to speak to a friend about a sugar craving, it's not a drug found on street corners being sold by dealers. 🙈.... Now I realise that actually that isn't a bad idea! No, it isn't an illegal drugs sold on street corners, it's a legal 'drug' found in our kitchen cupboards and in a lot of our food! This may not look like much to most but 2 weeks ago I hired myself a wonderful personal trainer, changed my diet drastically, go to two fitness classes a week plus a personal training session and exercise every day at home with following my fitness programme. So due to my recent story. Over 900 people said they’d like to see more food posts. Since the start of my weightloss journey I’ve just ate healthy, like fruit and salad etc. Last Sunday I made a massive change to my diet and I have decided to try the keto diet. I have been doing this for the last 5 days and already I have lost 4kgs. I’m not saying eating healthy didn’t work for me but I’m choosing to do this to give my weightloss another big kick start because no one like hitting a plateau- for me that’s when I start losing motivation. Um #delicious and super easy to make! 🙌🏻 Satay Chicken & Veg . . Ingredients and Method Coconut Oil 1-2 Chicken breast diced Half Red Onion 3 tablespoons of Peanut Butter 3 tablespoons of Cocomino Approx 200 ml of water 1-2 tsp of Broth of Life chicken bone broth Veggies of your choice Salt n Pepper Diced & Cooked the Chicken in pan with coconut oil, added onion Combine peanut butter, cocominos & broth in a bowl Lower heat & add in water Add sauce to pan and stir On low heat it should thicken nicely, add more water if you want. Steam Veggies and season with salt and pepper if you like! Made approx 2-3 meals. Enjoy!! Bought the peanut butter from Johnson’s farm market, broth from Broth of Life, Cocomino from Go Vita. Earlier today I attempted to do what I thought I couldn’t do, and took myself down to the foreshore for a walk/some time in nature/some vitamin D ☀️. Turns out I was right, and couldn’t do it - ended up sitting in the bushes for a while after vomiting lots before I was ok to get myself back home. Now I’m home and frustrated. I have only changed my diet for 4 days, and I have already become more unwell and dropped weight. So I have made the decision to go back to what I had been doing, as I was previously getting adequate nutrition to maintain my body’s weight. Even if it is boring and monotonous and difficult to manage the large volume every day, at least it has been keeping my body alive and functioning.
I seriously need to learn how to make my food more photogenic! 😂 Anyway I’ve been sorta MIA lately. I’ve started school back up and I’m just kinda trying to figure life out. Looking to change up my diet a little because things have just been off and looking to find what works best for me soooo “keto” may not be the right word to describe my future.
