Bit of arm work with @andymwilkinson . After my 4 core workouts of the week (back shoulders legs chest), any extra workouts will focus on what I enjoy/what I’m focusing on. Currently I’d like to build my legs and arms, so I’ll focus on arms and chest on the 5th and legs and back on the 6th if I get round to it. 1 week after a terrible set up which led to the worst back pain I've ever had, I was able to build up to a light 565 deadlift today. Previously I was hitting 600-615 weekly with no real fatigue setting in. Tools in the Toolbox-Using the handcuff hinge to teach the hinge pattern. I learned this from @strengthfaction a few weeks ago and have been using it pretty successfully to help clean up some of my clients movement patterns. 🔹The biggest issues I see when people try to hinge are 1-Failing to maintain tension in the torso/lats, and 2-proper posterior hip shift, everyone wants to do a squat. The handcuff hinge literally forces you to get right and having the weight behind you forces a proper hip shift or you’ll fall over. 🔹Take your shoes off so you can feel the ground-Start with your feet directly under your hips-find your big toe, pinkie toe, and heel. Spread the floor 🔹Stack your ribs over your pelvis-think tall and tight, make a double chin-this should get your spine in a good alignment 🔹Hold the KB behind your back, try to rip the handle apart-you’ll feel tension across your upper back-you’re ready to go. 🔹Reach your hips straight back until you feel a good amount of tension in your hamstrings 🔹Drive the floor away from you, finish tall. When to use: -As a corrective -Warmup before deadlift workout -Between sets of upper body exercises to get some extra movement practice in -Off days as part of your movement practice Happy deadlifting!
Purple is my new favorite winter color 💜 switched things up and instead of doing stiff leg deadlifts I tried out the good old regular deadlift for the first time ever and I am very happy to say I lifted 155lbs for 5 reps 😁💪🏼 still trying to perfect the squat form but I’ll get there 🏋🏼‍♀️
