☕️ FRIDAY HEALTH TIP - Supercharge your everyday foods ☕️ •• This week’s edition of #friyay health hacks…(ohh I really should make that the new name!!) is all about “supercharging” foods or drinks you have everyday. By that I mean finding different ways to add some form of extra nutritional value to simple foods/drinks. My focus today is the humble COFFEE ☕️ I loooooove LOOOOOOVE my coffee and have it everyday with my breakfast (#rideordie ) and lately, I have started mixing some collagen powder into it. •• Daily use of #Collagen can help ease joint discomfort, improve joint mobility, assist in cartilage regeneration, improve bone density & flexibility, gut health, assist in growth & maintenance of muscle mass, assist in healing wounds and just generally helping your body out in life 😊 I buy mine from @nutraorganics online. •• As some of you may know, I have #degenerativediscdisease and since taking collagen consistently everyday for about 3 months now, I’ve noticed a HUGE decrease in my lower back pain. Which to me is honestly priceless. •• Other ways you can you can “supercharge” your food is adding an extra vegetable to your stir fry that you normally wouldn’t get, mixing in a different ingredient in your smoothies like Camu powder etc, swapping out processed ingredients for more natural sources (i.e. white sugar to organic coconut sugar)… and the list goes on. •• Let me know if you would like more ideas or if you have tried collagen before!

When it comes to the barbell cleans are second to none for developing power and overall athleticism. - But let’s be honest there are some people who have no business doing cleans...at least not today. - Just like everything else the clean is built of multiple components. - Can you check the boxes on all the range of motion and stability components? - If you’re doing cleans on a regular basis I hope the answer is yes. SALT, WHY ATHLETES NEED MORE (PART 2) · Sodium’s primary responsibility is the regulation blood volume and blood pressure, along with many others. · LOW SODIUM = LOW BLOOD VOLUME · During high-intensity exercise the body’s metabolism is better served by higher blood volume since it translates to better oxygen and nutrient delivery to working cells. Also, higher blood volume helps the body be more efficient with the removal of fatiguing toxins · Potassium is dependent on sodium to perform its major functions as the control of the muscle. Build to your pull-up: Part 3. More accessory moves to help build your pull-up! First one is a low trap row. Second one is a lat pulldown and third is a lat pulldown with a PVC. I recommend these to help build scapular control and train these muscles to keep your shoulders in a good position to pull. So here we are. Surgery was Monday and today I was able to see what I’m going to be managing moving forward. I’m not going to lie, this totally sucks. The pain is terrible, the pain meds are even worse and sleeping while sitting up should be considered a form of torture. I have cried for no reason at least three times in the last two days and sworn off CrossFit in a fit of frustration just this morning. I know this is all momentary insanity and that tomorrow will be better than today. But man, the reality of this is definitely sinking in.
