Go hard💪 or go home. 🏠 We have all heard the expression “go hard or go home.” That is a nice sentiment but if everyone stuck by that as a rule, admit it, most of us would go home. Yes, to see results you need to train with intensity but you also need to listen to your body. Champions in any sport don’t train all out all the time, rather what sets them apart from the pack is that they train even when they are not feeling up to it. Let’s say you had a few tough days of training and a stressful day a work. Maybe another tough day isn’t what you need nor is sitting on the couch. These are the days when you can work on technique, agility, flexibility, a new skill, active recovery or maybe do the workout but dial it down. When I’m starting to feel run down but still want to hit the WOD I will apply some of the examples above. I’ll use lighter weight to dial in my technique and move at a slower more manageable pace. If you’re always grinding yourself down to a sweaty pile of goo and expect your performance to improve you’re fooling yourself and at that rate the chance of injury increases. To excel in any physical sport you need to vary your training according to how you’re feeling. So before joining Crossfit Aggregate in March, I had never really done Squat Cleans, so I PR’d today with 150lbs. I like being able to video so I can critique my form. Story of my life.... hips! Once I figure out how to get my hips involved, I will be able to do more weight. Until then, this ugly form is what it is. Hips are always my coaches correction for me, now I can see it! It has been a minute since we’ve done this! So here it is. . A man weighing 185lbs who runs 3 miles burns about 450 calories - that’s also running at a 7 minute mile pace. . You can eat those same calories in less than 5 minutes via a King Size Twix Bar! This is why fat loss is hard. And it is virtually impossible to improve your body composition without changing your diet. . Also, important to note than ONE Twix bar is not gonna make you gain fat but if you are consistently eating in a caloric surplus - it’s gonna happen!
