Craig Mack - Project: Funk da World (Bad Boy | 1994)
If we were to talk Golden Era Hip Hop and would need to single out one year of that period, it would be have to be - 1994. When you take into account Craig Mack's debut album came out said year and is deemed a classic of the era, little else needs to be added. The second release on the newly formed Bad Boy Records, coming out just 7 days after B.I.G.'s "Ready to Die", even though critically acclaimed and commercially successful, was unjustly overshadowed by the Bad Boy record it followed. Containing some of Easy Mo Bee's most famous beats including "Flava in Your Ear" and "Get Down", “Project: Funk da World” is a benchmark boom bap album.
From Phife to Dilla, Pac to Biggie, ODB to Prodigy, Big L to Guru, Heavy D to Pimp C, nowhere in music are artists dying at such a tragically young age like they are in hip hop. I’m losing too many of my childhood heroes... Craig Mack RIP
