Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occurs in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future, according to a collaborative definition found on Wikipedia. Philosophers have long debated whether it is a fundamental structure of the universe—a dimension independent of events—or a purely intellectual construct existing only so as humans we can sequence and compare events. • Whatever we believe, how we use each of our 24 hours will determine who we become. More valuable than money, time cannot be borrowed from others. We only have our own time and how we use it will largely impact our peace, happiness and success. • Many people speak about “killing time,” which is a rather disturbing thought at anytime of life, considering it’s finite nature in respect to our lives. Many don’t know where their time goes. If this is you, try recording it. Keep a log of hours and activities. Analyze it so you can see how you actually spend this precious commodity. • Often we think we lack time to do things we want to do. Yet, once we actually start recording what we are doing on a daily basis with our time, quite often, we realize ways we’re squandering it. • Upon reviewing our “Time Spent” list—we can ask ourselves to prioritize the time we’re spending. Did it provide a return on our investment? Did we become happier, smarter, stronger, wiser, relaxed or something otherwise constructive? Or did we merely fill gaps? • How we choose to spend our time is a highly personal choice. But the best way we can spend it is doing something that makes us intangibly wiser: building our joy, strength, focus, attention, care, consideration and capabilities. • Doing what we must. Eliminating the unnecessary. Delegating if possible. Prioritizing whatever is important to us. Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters.
