I give Quicksilver No Surrender #1
Quicksilver is one of my favorite Avengers so there's a plus. But since there are other speedsters in the comicbook universe that get more popularity, it's gonna take a lot more than several miniseries to elevate this silver speedster to stardom. As like most #1
the beginning is quite slow. Mainly plot and character introduction. This miniseries ties into the Avengers No Surrender story arc which if you remember I did a review on that when it first came out. Basically I said I wasn't gonna shell out 4-5 bucks per issue on a weekly series and I was gonna wait for the trade to come out which costs less. The problem with that is that when reading a tie in miniseries, it behooves you to read the main arc. So if you're gonna read this miniseries, I hope you've been reading the main arc.
Pros: I liked the way Quicksilver distinguishes his super speed compared to everyone else. He does it in way where we as readers see that although Pietro will never be as fast as any of the Flashes, he's still fast in his own unique way.
: Right off the bat the writer remind us of that controversial retcon in which Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver lost their mutant heritage. That retcon upset several people iirc and so for them to open up with that......... Con #2
: The art looks unfinished imo. Especially the black and white parts where Quicksilver realizes everyone is frozen in time while he is moving super fast. To me it looked like story board art not final printing art.
