This is my day four entry for the fifteen day Disney challenge, hosted by @ilsdisneylife
Thanks again for not making the schedule rigid ☺
So, in my edit Hook is singing his deceptively cheerful tune as Wendy stands beside him, paralleling the same scene in the 2003 film. I wish there was enough room for the whole song, but I'm happy with how this turned out anyway.
Quick thoughts on Peter Pan as a movie: So, I checked it out recently for the first time in years, and to be honest, I found it underwhelming. It's not that it's a bad film by any means, it just failed to draw me in the way other interpretations have. The version I like best is also one of my favorite films, the live action 2003 Disney movie. I feel like that had far more charm and class, and it was also very similar to the book.
Some of the songs in the cartoon were good; What Made the Red Man Red will be in my head forever. I'm honestly surprised some people consider it racist, even as a kid I thought this was the origins of Neverland Indians, not anything else. But I can see why some people would be upset. Your Mother and Mine was a nice tune, and A Pirate's Life For Me makes me snicker; mostly because of the offer to give the kids a free tattoo and make them pirates.
So yeah, there was obviously considerable time and effort put into this film, it just doesn't do anything for me. Strangely enough though, I enjoy Return to Neverland. I think the animated Peter Pan could have had several sequels made without getting stale, since it's animated and the voice actors have already been replaced well once. I'd like to see more of the universe it creates, even if I'm not crazy about the first film.
If you'd like to leave a comment or a like, that'd be cool, thanks 😊 Constructive criticism is also appreciated.
