Avengers: Infinity War – PG13 – 2018
Woah. That was crazy…
The newest Avengers is epic, intense and the most entertaining movie I’ve seen recently. This movie involves upward of 25 characters and the scale of this movie is unlike any other seen before.
All the successes of this movie should be credited to the Russo brothers. Juggling too many characters has plagued superhero movies in the past, but the Russo brothers do a phenomenal job of giving every character ample screen time.
This is first and foremost a plot driven movie and the story of Avengers: Infinity War is incredibly interesting and packs enough surprising moments which keep the audience on the edge of their seat.
I have to say that Thor, Iron Man and Doctor Strange are the best characters in this movie by far. They have a great arc in this movie and are super entertaining to watch when they are on screen.
Visually, this movie is stunning and incredibly cool to watch. Visiting other planets and the visual components of characters such as Dr. Strange and the Infinity Stones are visually portrayed in an exciting way.
Both Josh Brolin and the VFX team that brought Thanos to life must also be praised as he is one the best villains that a comic book movie has to offer; easily Marvel’s best. He is menacing and captivating, and his motivation for his dire plans are justified and allows for a more interesting villain. He is very much the focus of the movie, but it doesn’t seem like an overload given how captivating he is whenever he’s on screen.
I will say that some characters are emphasized more than others. However, Avengers 4 will focus on those characters that weren’t used as much in this movie and makes sense given the amount of characters in the movie.
A tip to those that are thinking of seeing Avengers. Go see it in IMAX. The entire movie was shot in IMAX and seeing it in this format makes a huge difference to the experience.
Overall, Avengers: Infinity War is one of the most entertaining movies Marvel has churned out. The characters are evenly utilized, the story is fresh and interesting, and the action is visually spectacular as the heroes fight one of the best comic book villains. RATING: 8.5/10
