There is beauty in order.
As people, we innately seek out order. We look for patterns, for symmetry, for identifiable attributes to place things and people and places into categories. We seek out order, and use it to define our world. But what happens when something, or someone, defies those categorical boxes we so love to create? Well, often we get confused. We try to find a solution for the lack of categorization. And then we are left uncomfortable and don’t know what to do. We either love it, or hate it, or just feel lost. 🤷🏼♂️
That’s sometimes how I feel about myself. I don’t fit into a box, or a category. And I don’t want to. I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy; a well-studied, science-based brain. But I’m also a photographer and creative entrepreneur. I love art and science. I love beauty and facts. I’m emotional and pragmatic. I run marathons and play soccer and walk our pup and love my wife and my family and my life. I love sweets and healthy living. I am not able to be defined by a categorical box or label. The only label that fits me is “me.” And I’m going to keep on being the best “me” I can be. 🙋🏼♂️
