Eating clean. Is it a myth or fact.
Personally I feel it is a bit of both depending on how you look at it.
Eating clean suggests that the food you eat is healthy. That it only has good calories in it and therefore is only good for you.
Well lets break some points down.
First, a calorie is a calorie. It either comes from fat, protein, carbohydrates or fibre. There is no such thing as a clean calorie.
Second, some foods are healthier then others. But this can change with how they are cooked and produced. For example, lets take a pizza. Buy it from a take away and it may not be quite as healthy as if you made it yourself using cauliflower dough instead of bread.
Third, just because you ate the food doesn't mean you are getting the calories from it as I discussed in another post. So the healthy meal you made may actually be bad for you due to an intolerance you are not aware of.
Fourth and most crucial is this... if you eat a 'clean' meal like chicken, broccoli and sweet potato which has for agruments sake, 500kcals in. You need 1500 to maintain your weight. You eat 4 of these clean meals. You are now 500kcal over what you need. You will get fat eating like this. Your clean food is now not healthy.
Eat a BALANCED diet. AVOID processed foods and STICK to the calories you need and you will get the results you want. More importantly eat right to be healthy and enjoy life.
Do not buy into fads or terms designed to make loop holes to be lazy or to feel like your doing well.

Creating Space Challenge!!
Things are ramping up for me so it’s important to remember what makes me happy and keeps me calm. The thing that does it, is space!
So I’d like to do a challenge with you this week! Pick ONE thing from the list below and set the intention to do it every day. Pop it in your calendar or put a note on your wall if you need to. But if it doesn’t happen, DON’T judge yourself, forgive yourself and set the intention again for the following day. Pick one:
✨ Express gratitude before you go to sleep or when you first wake up
✨ Before you nod off to sleep, sit for 5 mins and just breath in and out
✨ Go for a walk for at least 20mins (in silence or listen to a podcast)
✨ Drive to and from work in silence (or bus, train, walk)
✨ Avoid emails or social media in the morning until you get to work
✨ Turn off your phone 2 hours before you go to sleep and read, write or draw
✨ Cook dinner and hang out in the evening with no TV on
✨ Go to sleep 8 hours before your alarm goes off
You only need to pick one. Start small, pick one that might make you feel a bit uncomfortable and try it, see how you feel, observe how you react, note it down and reflect on it.
We tend to say we don’t have time to create space, but how much time do we spend doing things without even thinking about? We will create space, which can create calm and peace when we decide it’s important for us to do it. So let today be the day you decide it’s important for you.
Let’s do it together! This week I’m picking 20mins of walking and I’m going to commit to it every day that I’m not training. I love the fresh air and space (even though it’s freezing)!

Wake up feeling grateful for your life & the things in it, have a clear picture of your goals and motivated enough that you spend everyday working to achieve them.
For me I like to get up 4-5am everyday, write down my goals, do a couple of hours revision, go to the gym and either listened to my motivation or learnt some German. Then it's time to start work.
So make everyday count. You only get one life so don't waste it or live it with regret that you could have done more.

A day late for Fathers Day but still worthy of a share.
This is something my dad once taught me about his own life philosophy. Back up plans are good. Don’t get me wrong.
However it means that you don’t 100% believe in your own plan.
Don’t do anything you don’t fully believe in.
You should be as passionate about pursuing goal 1 as you are about pursuing potential goal 2.
There is no back up plan.
Just a fluid end goal that shifts with time, priorities and need.
Both just as worthy, just as intriguing and just as rewarding.
My dad’s biggest dream when he was young was to be a rockstar and perform to big crowds.
Today he works for a company working within measurement technology and plays the guitar for his own pleasure every now and then.
However this weekend he still was on stage for 4000+ people in Las Vegas, with many more tuning in online, to watch him talk about the latest passion project of the company.
Be flexible about your goals.
Pursue them whole heartedly.
The outcome may end up looking pretty similar 😉

This is both a positive and negative. Let me explain. Sometimes we do have rough days, and we need to understand tomorrow is a new day, we get a fresh start every single morning. Something I also wanted to pull from this quote is the fact that there is nothing you can do to change tomorrow's arrival, so rather than complaining about the aggressively rough day you MIGHT have tomorrow, look at it from a positive prospective. You might have a great day tomorrow, busy, but great. It might help you stay focussed, it might encourage you to work towards something bigger and better. .
