Mondays at 7.30pm... Plantar fasciitis, tight achilles, hamstrings and a general lack of mobility, are all cumulative effects of tightness in our fascia (connective tissue around muscles and internal organs) which can lead to restricted flexibility in our joints, general imbalances and even feelings of full-body fatigue.
Balancing out strenuous activity with stretch is essential for good maintenance - and to allow us to really get the most from our workouts.
That's why we're dedicating a full hour in our weekly schedule to JUST STRETCH.
Using foam rollers, body-rolling balls, hands-on adjustments from our experienced team - and even partner work, this is the perfect antidote not only to tough workouts, but also to our often sedentary screen-orientated lifestyles.
With a background in Dance Physiotherapy and a lifetime as a professional Ballet Dancer, @bridget_coulthurst
knows all the secrets of maintaining flexibility, symmetry and can show you how to coax your muscles into pure relaxation.
You do not already need to be flexible to take the class, that will come with time...and a little patience.
You'll warm up gently first, then work from the ground up, stretching the feet, achilles, calves and up into the quads, hips, psoas and hamstrings. With some restorative spinal releases and rotations, you'll also work on the shoulders upper back, neck (with huge benefits to your posture). We'll introduce simple, fun ways at each session for you to see how much your flexibility and movement has changed since the start of the class - and make time for a relaxation before we finish.
