Feeling under the weather. Chicken soup with homemade bone broth, turmeric, zucchini from the garden and carrots from the market. Typing all that I’m not sure if this makes me feel like a millennial hipster or my grandmother. We demolished it either way. Even Ted couldn’t resist. Turmeric in soup always reminds of my mom making Campbell’s chicken noodle.
Greg loves soup. He doesn’t even complain that our soup no longer has noodles, he’s just happy to have a pot on the stove.
Soup was a pregnancy aversion for me and it took a long time for me to be able to want to eat it again - like 2 years! Anyone else have pregnancy food aversions that lingered long after delivery?

Treat YoSelf Chocolate Mousse
[dairy free, vegan]
I finally tweaked the recipe and it's pah-fekt, dahlings. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
2 ripe avocados, refrigerate overnight if possible
1/4 cup almond milk or hemp milk
1-2 oz dark chocolate, 65% or higher
1/4 cup cacao powder (cocoa is good too, but if you want it richer in flavor, go with cacao)
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon honey (more or less depending on sweetness)
pinch of salt
In a food processor, add flesh of avocados. Pulse quickly and then add the milk until smooth and mostly creamy. In a microwaveable bowl, add chocolate and coconut oil and nuke on high in 30 second intervals until melted, stirring in between. Whisk in cacao powder until smooth. Add chocolate mixture to avo mixture. Add salt. Drizzle the honey as you continue to pulse until you reach your desired consistency. You can eat it right away or refrigerate until you're ready to indulge. Serves 2-3. (Note: if you don't have a food processor, throwing everything in the blender works too.) I’ve been in Adelaide for the weekend catching up with family and friends and have literally eaten out for every single meal 😂 This was Friday’s brunch at @303bytheseahenley
: sautéed greens, celeriac purée, beef brisket, poached eggs and sweet potato crisps. Freaking YUM. And huge. Also had a green juice but subbed the apple for carrot to reduce the sugar. Dad ordered the vegan burger (very weird for him 😂) which was also massive... we rolllllled out of there. 🐷
To nourish. What does that really mean? sustaining yourself with real food; supplying your body with what is necessary for life, health, and growth. To keep alive. To strengthen. To build. To enhance your soul? Although we may be nourished in many different forms, it's the nourishment that allows YOUR body to perform at the best ability is the one you need to focus on! And as we are all different amazing humans what’s right for you may not be right for me ! With tomorrow being a Monday, the start of a new week, try setting an intention - perhaps this is to choose not only food but activities that nourish SELF. and I thought it would be off limits now that I’m eating #AIP
. However, they have a super detailed allergen menu and so I thought I’d try it. I had a plain patty (no butter, no spices) topped with plain grilled mushrooms with onions, cucumbers, and spinach on the side. I ordered a side salad (brought my own dressing) and took a gamble and ordered the brussel sprouts because they are cooked in tallow! I *did* have a slight reaction but it was likely cross contamination from the tallow or the burger since we came at a super busy time. The staff was awesome even though they were busy and took the time to answer all of my questions. They also remade the salad after it came out with cheese even though I had told them that I was avoiding dairy. The symptoms didn’t last long and it felt so good to eat at one of my favourite places (even if it wasn’t a pretzel bun and loads of condiments oh and fried pickles 😩) My verdict is that I’d try it again because it’s too far wavy to make it a regular habit anyway. #msdiet #aiponthego #dairyfree #nutfree #soyfree #glutenfree #autoimmunepaleo #autoimmuneprotocol #onedayatatime
Today we BBQd, we BBQd hard!i said goodbye to some of my favorites, that I know are probably slowly k.i.l.l.i.n.g me.
I won’t miss the bloating, anxiety, hives, puffy face, helpless & hopeless feeling and depression, nope...I don’t thinking miss that at all.
As for now I’ll drink my glass of 🍷 wine (saying goodbye to that too!) and plan some meals for the coming up week.

I learned so much about minding our mitochondria last weekend while in Portland, OR at a functional medicine conference. They explained how the more healthy mitochondria our body contains, the better we feel, and the more robust our metabolism will be. That translates to better energy and focus, and greater ability to sustain high levels of activity without fatiguing.
Our SAD diets are just the beginning of the problem. Stress, sedentary lifestyles, free-radical damage, and exposure to infections, allergens, and toxins can all cause our energy generation to falter. .
It's no secret to me that food is medicine but hearing about it on this level was empowering. .

I have been eating this meal for breakfast and lunch this week. Did you know if you eat a sweet breakfast you tend to crave more sugar throughout the day? .
That's why this savory breakfast helps curb sugar cravings! .
Sweet potatoes promote productive bacteria in the stomach, small intestine, and colon, while at the same time, they starve out unproductive bacteria and fungi such as mold that are camping out there. I need all the help I can get with my gut health these days! .
Kale is helpful when connective tissue is under attack by a virus, inflamed, highly sensitive, and/or weak, it is one of the fastest paths to chronic illness. My doctor suggested I eat the kale lightly steamed to help with digestion and to improve my liver health. .
The kale is topped lemon turmeric dressing. I blended up 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/4 cup water, 2 tbsp think, 1 teas coconut nectar and a couple of dashes of kosher salt. .
For protein I have an Aidell's chicken and apple sausage and an ounce of chicken breast. .

I’ve always loved salads.
Meat, greenery, sloppy dressings, crunchy toppings — a salad is the blank canvas of deliciousness!
Problem is, that just because it’s called a “salad” doesn’t mean it’s healthy. And the salads of my past, as green as they all started out to be, would somehow always end up being smothered with processed food from the dairy aisle, gluten-laden munchies from a bag, and the all beloved ranch dressing. (Oh Ranch, how I miss thee! I’m sorry we had to break up.)
Eating within the autoimmune protocol has made me bring every meal back to the blank canvas, and start over.
Today’s salad was no exception, and I love how it turned out! Spinach, lettuce greens, baked chicken, a butternut squash and basil dressing, and a sprinkling of fresh blueberries. This simple beauty packed great flavor, and was Oh So Healthy, too!

✳️Don’t copy my weights. I added them just for reference. Do a load that has you fatiguing around the last few reps.
✳️Listen to your low back. If you’re feeling it there, chances are that you’re either not engaging your core enough or your core has fatigued. Readjust, increase core activation. If you still feel it in the low back, stop the exercise. I’m all about injury free gains🍑
✳️Set your foundation. ie. shoulders down and back, lats engaged, ribcage tight, core engaged, and glutes engaged. Without a strong foundation, it’s like your pushing off sand as opposed to concrete. Not ideal.
✳️Take is slow. About 2 seconds down (eccentric) and 2 seconds up (concentric).
✳️Turn on some killer tunes🎶 & jam out ...so long at they don’t distract you.

I let the bacon cook in the cast iron while I sautéed kale in avocado oil, nutritional yeast and garlic powder. Stuck some leftover carrots and turnips in the microwave and topped it off with a slice of cantaloupe. Voila, a satisfying meal in 10 minutes or less. ✨
I love a good recipe with complex flavors and but sometimes ya just don’t got time for that or want to spend your day in the kitchen. When in doubt, keep it simple with some fat, fiber, and protein. ✨
