Matthew Chapter 2 part 7 The Great Escape
In the midst of a life threatening situation, God spoke to Joseph, revealed a plan and immediately Joseph was obedient and responded and they were saved.
When there is danger and someone offers you a chance of being rescued, it only works if you take notice and act on it. When you are hanging off the cliff and when the rescuer comes and says 'I've got you, you can let go now'. The rescue only works if you act on what they say. Get it wrong and your life could be in danger. Joseph heard from God about the danger and was obedient and it resulted in them being saved.
Moses, David, Daniel, Isaiah, Abraham, Job all slipped up, endured hard times and were tested, but each time God spoke to them, they heard, were obedient and God saved and restored them.
God watches out for us and when we are in danger, speaks to us - but do we hear Him?
Our most pressing danger is our sin (rebellion against God). BUT - the rescue plan is already in place! We just need to be obedient to the person who will come to recue us.
Jesus is our rescuer - the one who saves us. His words are 'Good News' and provide us such a great escape. It is only great if the situation is dire and the rescue is death-defying. We are saved from the guilty verdict that we deserve - who ever accepts the Son has life. Jesus, has come so our lives can be saved from great danger and be restored in our relationship with God.
Have we realised what great danger we were in?
Is time to give Jesus praise for such a great salvation?
For only Jesus could do it and my life was in His hands - and now I am safe in His embrace.
Or, will you to react for the first time, responding obediently to God's voice. Cry out to Jesus to see Him respond and you will find He will rescue you.
He is calling you to come just as you are - He loves you - and He wants you to know and love Him.
Will you hear and respond?
