“Journeys are limited. Adventures are limitless.” — @scotttheboom.
Yesterday, I had a great time with my good friend @ete_ex_machina
) attending Flying with London #Heathrow
: #Accessible #Transport
Forum (ATF) #SpecialAssistance
Engagement Event #HeathrowAirport
. It was an opportunity for wheelchair users to get a tour of Heathrow and see what services are available when flying, as well as getting a better understanding of how to make the entire process at the #airport
easier for us. The event featured representatives from @heathrow_airport
, Heathrow Cares, @british_airways
, OmniServ, and Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF).
————————————— I LOVED IT! —————————————
Here I am with Ete, @grahamrace
from QEF (the ATF) and Samantha Berry from OmniServ.
I learned so much, and I found the entire day extremely useful and helpful. However, from here it’s about having good consistent service and communication (and collaborating with other airports) ensuring reliable service to make flying easier and more regular for #disabled
passengers, which most people take for granted.
Also, cheers Ete for joining me, and Graham for inviting me.
Despite the challenges as a severely physically disabled wheelchair user, I want to take more advantage of opportunity and adventure travelling the world has to offer too. So, I look forward to working with Graham and other organisations further to push to better wheelchair air travel and improves services disabled passengers,
As Rumi best said: “You have escaped the cage. Your wings are stretched out. Now fly.”
