400lbs on the left, 172lbs on the right. It took me 3.5 years to lose 245lbs and then 2 years to add the current muscle mass I have.

post will focus on how anything is possible because YOU ARE MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU THINK!
I believe the mistake most of us make is looking too much into the future, or achieving that ultimate goal, instead of the day-to-day battles.
You see, we are composed from a collection of our decisions, every single day. Those actions can lead to a solid foundation of winning or a house of cards towards losing.
We tend to overlook the battles in order to win the war, but that's how failure comes into play.
It's a process of discipline(putting your health first), patience(no quick fixes or fad diets) and winning the small victories(inches lost) while learning from your temporary setbacks(trigger eating). So, today, take it from a guy who conquered obesity, pre-diabeties and heart palpitations... you got this.
Take it one day at a time and be grateful for your small victories.
For consistent droplets of water, no matter how small, can fill any bucket.

So, I left work early cuz my back is in quite a bit of pain. I went home, and laid on the couch for a while. But outside the sun was shining. And inside I was bored, alone, and getting antsy. So...I went for a walk. I went to the park across the street from my house, walked around, sat on a bench, breathed, and took in the sun. I let the stress and worries go for a few minutes. It's funny how much better things seem when you're sitting in the sun for a while. I'm back home now. Resting my back. But that last hour or so....man...it felt really damn good.
I’ve had a day completely off plan and tracking and it has been glorious to let my hair down. But I’ll be back on the grind tomorrow until my holiday in 5 weeks 🙃 this is a photo from a few years ago, it was actually insane how hard I worked to get there but it just reminds me I can do it all again! hi! i know i don’t use this worth a shit anymore and i’m sorry. to be completely honest i haven’t been keeping up with my diet entirely, however i haven’t stopped losing weight, it’s just not happening as quickly. i am now 70lbs down and thrilled about it.
things are fucking weird though. people look at me differently now. even though im still on the heavier side, people never looked at me like this until now. it honestly makes me a little uncomfortable sometimes. i liked being able to walk around wearing whatever i want without being creeped on. i’ve literally had guys do the dumbest shit to talk to me or get my attention and it’s mind blowing bc people used to just ignore me. idk. that’s all i’ve got though. i’ll come back with more updates when i can! -

💥THE DIFFICULT PATIENT SERIES VOL. 6💥
"The Defeated Patient."
This type of patient that comes in can be extremely challenging. We know how signifcant mental health and depression can effect successful outcomes, and especially management of persistent pain. We also know that dealing with the mental health side of it is NOT in our scope. But it does not mean that we should not be doing our best to help reframe the neuro/MSK side of things in a way that helps them feel more positive about it. That being said, know when to recommend or refer out for other professional help. Mental health is as taboo as you make it as the provider. Embrace it and advocate for it.
Here’s some insight for going about building a therapeutic alliance and having them leave with more positive beliefs than when they came in:
1. INJECT SUBTLE POSITIVE BODY LANGUAGE 🕺🏼
This patient certainly does not want the therapist coming in HOT with the positivity. Meet their energy and sneak some positive body language in where you can.
2. MORE SUBJECTIVE, LESS OBJECTIVE 👂
We know perseverating on tissue *generally* is found to be a predictor in negative outcomes. Listen more, these patients are usally the ones who need to it most.
3. BROACH THE TOPIC OF PAIN EDUCATION 📚
As Amato says, they dont need a degree in neurobiology. But they do need to know that this exists. Reconceptualizing pain is a pivotal role in reframing once "scary" MSK pain. Dosage varies, but it's generally a good idea to start more conservatively.
4. The "THERE IS HOPE" Talk 😺
Find a way to channel your emotion into an exciting persuasive argument about how much research gives us hope via all the different options we have at our disposal! Watch Adriaan Louw get fired up about working with this population.
5. RESHIFTING THE EXPECTATIONS ⚖
Do we wish we could rid the pain in an instance, of course. But with persistant pain especially, it is CRUCIAL to set the expectations. Focusing more on the little wins over time strategy, as opposed to the quick fix and "cure" for pain strategy.

🍑Where do you mostly feel your hip thrusts and glute bridges?
🛑If the answer was anything but the glutes, you have some work to do.
👀One of the screens we use for new clients is having them perform a simple glute bridge, before asking them where they primarily feel it.
🐖Often times people say their hamstrings, and they may even get an intense cramping feeling there. What’s going on in this situation is the individual is not properly activating their glutes, and is instead relying on their hamstrings for hip extension. In athletes, this is a common precursor to hamstring injuries.
😳Other times people feel it mostly in their lower back. This is another case of not properly engaging the glutes to achieve hip extension, except in this situation it is the lumbar spine that is doing the compensation instead of the hamstrings. Typically those who feel glute bridges in their lower back already have lower back pain, or will soon.
🎉Learn to properly engage and strengthen your glutes and you will lessen your chances of hamstring and lower back injuries, as well as improve your athletic performance and grow that booty 🍑!

My favourite Green Goddess Pesto Pasta recipe!!
Look at this colour 😍 💚⠀
• 1/2 cup Nuts (I use a mix of pine nuts and cashews)⠀
• Juice of 1 lemon 🍋 ⠀
• 3 packed cups of Spinach (you can mix with kale as well)🌱⠀
• Handful of fresh Basil ⠀
• 1/4 Cup extra virgin Olive Oil ⠀
• 1 clove Garlic⠀
• Salt and pepper to taste 👨🍳⠀
• 3 Tbsp of nutritional Yeast (you can also use Parmesan cheese if your not Vegan)⠀
Blitz all of the ingredients in a blender until desired consistency (I like mine smooth so I blend for longer) Set aside 🌱⠀
(Note: this makes a lot of pesto so just use 2-3Tbsp per serve) ⠀
Pasta: (1 serving)⠀
• 50g Edamame Pasta (normal pasta is fine but not as high in protein)⠀
• 1 Cup peas⠀
• 1 Cup mushrooms
Boil pasta for 6-8minutes and drain once cooked. Cook the mushrooms and peas either by frying or steaming and set aside. ⠀
Mix it up! Add a little fresh spinach on top and more nuts/cheese/nutritional yeast, and season with salt and pepper to taste. ⠀
For EXTRA creaminess add 1/2 ripe avocado for more healthy fats and nutrients 🥑 ⠀
I promise you will love this! It’s so delicious and full of goodness. Such an easy tasty way to get more greens into your diet. ⠀

Not going to lie, today's workout was super uncomfortable. I'm a little sunburnt and my back is actually very sunburnt. I should've opted out of leg day today but I didn't. I could've done upper body 🤦🏼♀️ the bar on my back hurt awfully and the exercises after that just felt uncomfortable. My body is literally radiating heat thanks to the sunburn. I still got a pretty sweaty workout in. Focused a little bit on my hamstrings and hip thrusts.
For those who are going to ask, these shorts are from FashionNova. Y'all, I really don't know what the hype about this brand is because they haven't impressed me yet. I have a pair of capris that I like and that's it. The first time I ordered something, they sent me the wrong order. These shorts right here are cute, but they ride up so I had to get a hoodie from my car to cover up. 🙃 also, they run a little big so if you're regularly an XS and all they have is a S, don't order it. That's all I have for my no BS fashionnova review 😊 have a good week everyone!
