When I used to teach kids art I used to be so jealous that they just got stuck in and didn't overthink anything at all. They were in a state of play and that was when they were most creative. We like baking, painting, sewing or playing football, but as we get older I really think we lose that childlike mindset of just doing things because we can, not to get better at them or impress someone else.
If we bake an amazing cake, we'll Instagram it, but if the icing butter curdled, we won't; I think we've kinda lost the art of trying. When did it become so lame to try? If something is done badly, but done with love or passion, is it actually crap? Or is it just you trying something new, or the outcome of you practicing it more? Just because something isn't worthy of social media, don't disregard it! We find it hard, nowadays, to take time out to explore ourselves and we stay being busy with stress because it seems that's what everyone else is doing.
Now that I've chosen to get back into a creative career, I have to remind myself I need to allow myself time to practice and explore myself, but do everything with the element of "play" or "fun". Think like a kid; make a mess, fall over and do it all again tomorrow with no anxiety that you didn't do it right the last time xxxxxxxxxxx #tattoo #tattooflash #illustration #illustrator #rose #rosetattoo #rose #rosedrawing #roseillustration #art #artwork #drawing #drawmore #sketch #sketchpad #dotwork #dotworktattoo
