Hit shoulders today. Made it 40 minutes and I'm done. I guess that's what happens when I have to take 2 months off for health reasons. 😞 but we're going to take it day by day and eventually I'll get back to where I was a few months ago. And hopefully this better eating style @philhasabeard

So since I haven't been able workout the last few months I have been trying to focus a lot on my mental health. Honestly I feel like if I'm not in the right mental state then I can't be right any other state of my life. So I have really been focusing on making myself mentally strong. It's not easy, THAT IS FOR SURE, but it is getting easier each day. And now that I am able to workout I feel like it'll make things a little easier. Just have to work on it. SHOULDER DEVELOPMENT 101⭐️ If you are having trouble with DELT contraction & development try this drill & set up as a pre shoulder session activation .. very few people have an optimal mind muscle connection with their DELTS.
It’s often not the nutritional plan or the actual weight used when training the shoulders that’s holding them back from better RESULTS.

Working on some overhead press from pins for the next couple weeks. I have a sticking point when the bar gets close to the top of my head so that's what I'm improving with this variation. If you have a sticking point, like me there are a couple of things you can do:
1-Make sure your set up for the lift is proper. For example, a lot of people have trouble locking out a deadlift simply because the bar is too far away from their body when they initiate the lift.
2-Strengthen the weak link. For me, at my sticking point, it's my triceps that need to be stronger. If you have trouble at the bottom of a squat, your glutes need strengthening. Halfway up? Your quads are probably the issue. I add in extra work to build strength and size in my triceps.
3-Work with a range of motion that challenges your sticking point. If you struggle with lockout on bench, floor press or banded bench press can help. If your hips rise early on your deadlift, doing deficits can.
4-Add ab and lower back work to every workout. Your core connects your upper and lower body and is responsible for transferring force from one to the other. If it gets fatigued or is weak, it will limit you no matter how strong your other muscles are. Don't neglect abs and lower back!

Didn’t make it to the gym before child care closed, so doing another workout at home. Today is shoulders. I injured my shoulder last week so I’m taking it easy on them today, but it feels good to use them again!
Keep pushing, moving forward. 365 days in a year, make each lift count. I used to do upright barbell rows at the beginning of my workout but I do them toward the end. Go as heavy as you can without sacrificing control and form. Repeat for 4 sets. I’m a work in progress but I’m closer now than I was before. #dbvfitness #shoulderday
Happy Saturday!! Feeling great today because I’m finally starting to feel strong in the gym again, enjoying some flexibility within my diet, and training because I want to, not because I have to. It’s hard mentally transitioning out of prep, where everything is so regimented and you are so focused towards a goal. I definitely spent a few weeks feeling a bit lost, trying to decide what my new goals are, and even whether I see myself competing again. What I have come to realize is that a competition, while feeling like an end goal, is really just a step along the way of a bigger journey, that can go on for as long as it is a priority to you. You can switch your focus without ever really letting go of your end goals, which should always be overall health and well-being.
