Goodmorning all 🤗 start your day with a smile, positive thoughts, Collagen lift, Ikari and a good breakfast 😊
Honesty and authenticity are everything.
Sometimes, when I think about Dad, that's what aches the most for me. He wasn't honest about how he was really feeling, how he was struggling. No one had any idea that inside he felt overwhelmed, like nothing he said or did made a difference. That's some of the things he wrote in the letters he left us. I cannot even begin to fathom how he must have felt and I definitely cannot write in any combination of words to describe how it felt reading that, hours after knowing he was gone forever. Or how it still feels right this second.
Listening, being present and reaching out to the ones you love most, even when you think they are totally fine, loving life, successful, happy, loved and right as rain is beyond important. Just as important as being brave enough to be true to your yourself and be honest and authentic. Remember that. Please.
Please help me make a difference in my Dad's honour so that no one feels that they need to battle silently ever again. Dad's Walk is my little stone in this big sea to show him how sorry I am and how determined I am to ignite a huge ripple effect for change in self-belief, resilience and self-love.
Most people in Australia have some experience with anxiety and depression, whether it is personal or via family, friends or work colleagues.
In fact, 1 in 5 women in Australia will experience depression and 1 in 3 will have anxiety during their lifetime. For men, 1 in 8 will experience depression and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety.
The good news is that, just like physical illnesses, depression and anxiety can be treated and managed. The sooner a person seeks help, the sooner he or she can begin their own path to genuinely feeling good like their true selves more often.
This year, I have chosen to raise funds for a local Mackay charity that educates the community on suicide awareness and intervention, Run for MI Life, to honour my father who lost his silent battle with depression 9 years ago. 💚
Michael's Silent Battle is a 50km hike in my Dad's honour to raise awareness for mental health in Australia. Please show your support joining me, or by commenting, sharing or donating. Xx
