I haven’t had an “official” workout since I arrived in the Pacific Northwest but we are having a chill day today so I broke out the resistance bands and went for a walk. Lots of hills here so that helps the cardio and surprisingly the resistance bands provided a good circuit based workout. 600 calorie burn amongst the wild Fox Glove and I’ll take it! ♥️ #weightlossjourney #fitnessjourney

It hasn't been quick and it definitely hasn't been easy. At around the 8 month mark, I struggled with the want to quit and give up, but I didn't allow myself to this time. I didn't allow myself to lose the determination and motivation that I still have to this day. I started this journey to better health on 10/24/16, and I've dropped 104lbs since. The before shots in the 1st two pictures are me at 296lbs. The 3rd and 4th pictures are almost a month apart, and there's only a 2 pound drop between those two shots. This so why I try to stress to people to not focus so heavily on the scale. I've been working this past month to focus more on strengthening and toning my body, so I'm gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. My dinner at the wedding yesterday. Obviously I went way over my normal calories BUT... I also walked 5k steps past my normal daily goal. Extra activity means extra calories right? Plus, everything on my plate was vegan. I was kind of excited to try all the things. Its cedar salad with crispy chicken, about a quarter cup of mac and cheese. Smashed potatoes, chicken fried steak and thai chili chicken wings. ALL VEGAN! I had the teeniest sliver of vegan wedding cake and a chocolate covered strawberry for dessert. No regrets here! My breakfast and lunch was turkey bacon (slide to see the brand I eat) and a smoked salmon wrap with avocado. Both under 500 calories. Last night I got to be part of my best friend’s wedding!! It was a beautiful ceremony for a wonderful couple!! I decided to be free for a day and not monitor what I ate.....I’m not on a diet, so it’s not really a #cheatday . I’ve worked towards changing my #lifestyle . So actually, it turns out that when you truly are ready to change your life it almost becomes second nature to keep your health in mind. I kept my #protein up, I #donotskipmeals to save calories for drinks, I had LOTS of #wine 🍷 but also kept up my #waterintake , I ate cake 🍰 after a big dinner....but most importantly I felt good, not guilty, about the choices I made and now I’m back to my regular diet of #eggs , #spinach and #proteinicecream lol. #noshameinmygame 😉 I’m not mad at myself for drinking wine and eating cake because the energy my regular diet has given me DEFINITELY helped me get in some #cardio on the dance floor 💃💃💃💃 haha...so much sweat 😓 lol and my feet, legs, and back are burning!! It took me a while to stop looking to the figures on the scale as a measure of my progress. I was addicted to that scale. I stepped on it morning and night and When it wasn’t moving down I got depressed. But now I’m free from it. Do I still go on the scale ? Yes I do lol but I don’t let the figure dictate my mood anymore. I use many other things to measure my progress now. Take the waist bead for instance. I purposely ordered one a little too tight so that I could watch them go loose. (Check my post on 3/6/2018). 21 days after it is beginning to fall down. The scale is going down as well but I’m showing this to remind you not to focus so much on the scale. It doesn’t tell the true story of your progress. If you are building muscle for instance the scale will go up but you will be leaning out physically. Makes sense ? So our cruise is over. We had a blast! Yes I gained 7 pounds.. I knew there would be a gain. I went into the week making a decision there would be drinking and not the keto friendly kind. So I decided to go have fun because at the end of the day this is a lifestyle and there will be times to splurge.. maybe not for a week but in this case it was. I have no regrets although I will say around day 3 I felt sluggish. Day 5 I was ready to return to my regimen. And today I am totally back on my wagon. Electrolytes going in now.. ketones to follow with water water water. Won’t be an easy week but again it’s one I knew would be coming. I had my fun and now it’s back to normal life! I know everyone usually posts about victories.. but that’s just not real life. There are ups and downs. There are decisions that you make that are great and not so great. Technically you could say my decisions this past week were not great.. but they were for me. It doesn’t mean I am less committed. In fact I am just as committed as I was the week before I left. Me today...Sunday’s are the best day of the week, but the HARDEST to be motivated to work out or burn energy of some sort. I understand you don’t have to work out every day, but I didn’t yesterday and 2 days in a row gives me so many excuses to miss another and then another! So here we go!

Yesterday I didn’t do the gym. I went on a wonderful hike through the woods on the Ozark Highlands Trail as part of an Edible, poisonous, and medicinal mushroom lecture and foraging workshop. It was the first time I’ve really exercised this week. The forest was so peaceful and green. A great few hours spent with nature. ▪️ As I have mentioned, I had a pretty nasty stint if bronchitis a month ago and I’ve still had residual cough, but a little over a week ago I think I coughed and pulled a muscle in my right rib cage. Lots of ibuprofen and some heat patches and I am finally feeling better and ready to get back in a routine. ▪️ Sometimes it seems like everything is against you. Broken routines, sickness, pain.... but I promise I’ve had way more positives with this weight loss than negatives. For some reason, humans have been given the ability to act based on reason and logic, not just instincts and survival drives, but it is a choice. We have to consciously make a decision to react based on reason when we have an impulse to act contrary to reason. That can be really uncomfortable, but it’s necessary if we want to be the creators of the life we desire. Day one at the beach, and I’m bringing out the 2 piece so I can have a non scale victory before I’m bloated with bologna sandwiches, fried seafood, and crab legs 🦀😆. I truly feel like the mental shifts, physical health, and lifestyle changes are the most important parts of weight loss, but I’d be lying if I said that feeling okay wearing a bikini isn’t pretty sweet too🙌🏻😄. I wish I had a before picture to compare to, but I don’t think I have a picture of me on the beach in a bathing suit of any kind since I was probably 16 🤦🏻‍♀️🙂. You can change more than you think, when you’re patient and give it time. Just keep stacking up those small wins, and daily habits. You’ll be amazed by what you can do with persistence. 💪🏻☺️

I choose HEALTH AND WELLNESS. I don’t care what any obese person says... being obese is NOT FUN you are NOT genuinely happyyyy... you put on a front on social media to make yourselves feel good about being fat... when really your dying inside knowing damn well people stare at you uncomfortably people whisper about you people are cruel. I say it’s your choice to be who you are but imagine a life in the 100s!!! How would YOU feel. Being that I am in the low 200s now I can RUN I can climb mountains easily I can even get in better sex positions I never thought I could 🤣🤣🤣 things are soooo much easier shedding all that weight my body thanks me everyday that it doesn’t have to over work its self just to get out of bed. I am soooo blessed to have the strength the courage the dedication and motivation to keep going. Remember without the inner work the putter doesn’t. You can get weight loss surgery or do it naturally but I promise EVENTUALLY all that past trauma you’ve put on the back burner will catch up and if you don’t work through your issues the weight will come back. Do everything you can to live your BEST LIFE you have 1 life to live SO LIVE IT. In other words, if your diet is not on point no matter how much cardio you do, you won't lose any fat. 🍳 - That doesn't mean you shouldn't incorporate cardio into your routine. 💥HOW TO REDUCE BLOATING💥 - This post is inspired by @roballenfitness  about strategies to reduce bloating. Everyone has experienced this discomfort but there are definitely ways that you can lessen its frequency and severity 😊👍🏼 - here’s what he had to say 👇🏼 .  Bloating is the trapping of gas in the abdomen that causes distention of the belly and discomfort. ✔This can be caused by food intolerances, some artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols, IBS, and other factors. ✔Fiber is a very important substance for your health but can lead to gas due to your body's inability to break it down. Make sure to have at least 25 g per day, but don't eat too much. ✔Exceeding 80 g of fiber per day would probably cause some bloating as well as digestive and nutrient absorption problems - Excessive fluid won't normally be trapped in the abdomen, but people do often cite subcutaneous water retention (water under skin) as the same thing as bloating. ✔The average person has a diet high in sodium but low in potassium. This causes you to retain water. Undo this by consuming less processed food and consuming more fruits and vegetables. Believe it or not, having more water will also help flush out subcutaneous water - Lastly, ✔cortisol is a stress hormone leading to water retention. Reduce your stress and you won't hold as much - You may experience some bloating depending on the biological clock too. 😱Sorry, I can't help you there lol. I hope these tips helped!
