🏴👑 THE MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS TRAIL 👑🏴 Check out my YouTube channel for details of a new series about MQOS. In today’s episode, I explore Edinburgh’s ‘Little France’ 🇫🇷 🎥
My Maries) Their stories so various and belongs to different epochs, but they both ends on the top of scaffold. Mary Stuart dead because of being not understanding the moves of the history and the ambitions of her own country, she was a stranger in her homeland. Oh, her passion, wild emotions pave the way to the day of execution. But till the end she stood a Queen, still proud, she adopt own death kingly. Marie Antoinette has never been a real Queen, her interested didn’t touch the interests of her France, light-mindedness, the eighteenth centurie’s atmosphere and temper took control of her. Like Stefan Zweig said - if she just realize everything she had done, or hadn’t done earlier than in the begging of the Revolution... But it was too late. Unclouded, gentle life of careless woman (not even Queen) were done, the era of blood, new intention, the people’s freedom and chaos was come in. The clock rang the 16 October 1793, the Queen stood on the scaffold and accept death dignified. The photoshoot and the beach photos (that miss Margot made look like a photoshoot cause that's her thing) ARE TOO MUCH FOR ME.
Couldn’t post anything at the time but last September I was working on Mary Queen of Scots. Up to my eyes in wigs and mud in the crowd room. @maryqueenmovie

This beautiful necklace and earrings from the British Royal Collection are part of a parure that also includes a brooch. Enamelled gold, pearls, rubies and emeralds are all featured.
The dating of the pieces is very complicated as the various parts have different histories.
The necklace is a composite. The oldest links date to the late sixteenth century. The central part and the star link to the left are younger c.1630. The other elements are of a later date.
The earrings were created in the nineteenth century.
A 1909 inventory in the Royal Collection, says the parure was given by Mary, Queen of Scots to Mary Seton, a devoted attendant and friend of Mary, Queen of Scots, during her years of her exile. She was also an excellent hairdresser.
Mary Seton’s descendant, Alexander Seton, 6th Earl of Eglinton (d.1661), removed some of the links from the chain around 1612. The jewels then passed to the Hon. Elizabeth Seton when she married William Hay of Drummelzier in 1694. They left the Seton's when they were sold in 1894 at Christie’s on 22 February (lot 69) to Algernon Borthwick, 1st Baron Glenesk (1830-1908) whose daughter, Lilias Countess Bathurst (d.1965), presented the parure to Queen Mary on the occasion of King George V’s Silver Jubilee in May 1935.
